SIUE Wins OVC Softball Championship

SIUE defeated Murray State, 12-1, in six innings to win its first OVC Softball Championship. With the win the Cougars earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. SIUE will find out its opponent tomorrow during the selection show at 9 p.m CT on ESPNU.

The Cougars got home runs from Alex McDavid, Haley Chambers, Kayla Riggs and Whitney Lanphier in the games. SIUE scored three runs in the first inning, two runs in the second, one in the fifth and put up a six spot in the fifth inning.

Jocelynn Rodgers hit a solo shot for Murray State's only run of the game.

Chambers picked up her 18th win of the season . She save up just one earned run and struck out seven in the game.
