Eight Ohio Valley Conference track and field student-athletes earned All-American honors for their performance at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend in Eugene, Ore.
Eastern Illinois' Peter Geragthy, Eastern Kentucky's Ole Hesselbjerg and SIUE's La'Derrick Ward were named to the first team while EIU's Mick Viken, EKU's Soufiane Bouchikhi and SIUE's Braxton Klavins earned second team honors. Southeast Missouri's Reggie Miller and SIUE's Jatavia Wright were tabbed honorable mentions.
First Team All-American honors were awarded to those who finished among the top eight in an individual or relay event as part of a team; Second Team All-America honors went to those who finished between ninth and 16th; Honorable Mention honors were given to the remaining finishers.
Geraghty took fourth in the pole vault as he cleared 18'0.50" while Viken also clared 18'0.50" but finished ninth based on the number attempts.
Hesselbjerg finished third in the steeplechase with a personal best time of 8:38.75 while Bouchikhi ran the 5,000 meters in 14:01.48 to place 15th.
Ward placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 24'09.75" while Klavins finished 16th in the 400 meters with a time of 46.40. Wright took 18th in the triple jump with a mark of 41'05.25".
