CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Bowling Green (7-2) shot a blistering 55.2 percent from the field and made 10 three-pointers in a 79-52 victory over Southeast Missouri (0-8) Tuesday night at the Show Me Center.
BGSU never trailed in the game and made 10 of its first 16 shots from downtown. The Falcons made 7-of-10 treys and shot 64.3 percent (18-of-28) from the field in the second half alone.
Isiah Jones' 3-pointer narrowed BGSU's lead to 40-30 with 17:33 left in the second half and that was as close as the Redhawks would get.
Spencer Parker made a free throw to push the Falcons lead to 65-45 at the 6:21 mark and BGSU didn't let its lead dip below 20 the rest of the way. Matt Fox's 3-pointer gave the Falcons their largest lead of the night (79-51) before BGSU polished off its sixth-straight win.
Southeast missed six of its first seven field goals and fell behind, 10-2, in the first 4:40 of the game. BGSU had three layups to go along with a Wes Alcegaire 3-pointer en route to its early lead.
The Redhawks later pulled to within two (13-11) on a jumper by Ladarius Coleman with 12:03 left to play.
Shortly after Jaylin Stewart's 3-pointer narrowed BGSU's lead to 24-20 at the 5:43 mark, the Falcons went on an 11-0 run to take a 15-point advantage.
David Joseph scored four points, Zack Denny drained a three and both JD Tisdale and Rasheed Worrell added baskets to widen BGSU's lead to 35-20 with 2:22 remaining.
Coleman scored on another jumper before both teams went scoreless for the final 2:06 as Southeast trailed, 35-22, at the intermission.
Denny and Spencer Parker each scored 18 points to lead BGSU. Denny (4-of-8) and Alcegaire (3-of-4) combined to shoot 7-of-12 from 3-point range.
Additionally, the Falcons finished with 23 assists. Ismail Ali had a game-high nine and Joseph contributed six.
Jones led all Southeast scorers with 12 points after going two-straight games without a field goal. He shot 5-of-13 from the field, had three rebounds and a steal in 29 minutes.
Antonius Cleveland followed with eight points and 10 rebounds. Cleveland recorded double-digit rebounds for the third time in his career. Eric McGill also added eight points for the Redhawks.
Southeast shot just 31.9 percent (22-of-69) from the field and matched its season-low of just 10 turnovers. The Redhawks posted a season-best 19 offensive rebounds, as well.
