• Complete Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award Finalists
Eastern Kentucky University Head Men’s Basketball Coach
Jeff Neubauer is one of 16 finalists for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award. The award is given out annually to a coach that exemplifies high moral integrity off the court and success on it.
The recipient of the 2015 award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Banquet on April 3 in Indianapolis, site of the 2015 Final Four.
Despite being picked to finish third in the Ohio Valley Conference East Division, Neubauer guided the Colonels to a first place finish, earning the No. 2 seed in the OVC tournament.
Neubauer sits at 186 wins, second only to Paul S. McBrayer’s 214, through his 10 seasons as EKU head coach. The men’s basketball team had a perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate (APR) for the 2012-13 academic year, and its multi-year score of 990 is among the top 10 highest scores for men’s basketball teams in the nation.
The Colonels, 19-11, will try to secure Neubauer’s record fifth 20-win season when they host a first round CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Named for the late Skip Prosser, the former coach of Wake Forest who passed away in 2007, the award has been given out since 2008. Former winners include Mike Brey (Notre Dame), Ed Conroy (The Citadel), Chris Mack (Xavier), Bob Marlin (Sam Houston State), Joe Mihalich (Niagara), Jimmy Patsos (Loyola MD) and Brian Wardle (Green Bay).
