Kevin Ingram's Flawless Coach Impressions

The Voice of the Bruins, Kevin Ingram, has worn several different hats during his time in Nashville. In 2013, Ingram was named the lead announcer for OVC Football television broadcasts, and this past August, he joined the SEC Network broadcast team. The live coverage consists mainly of Vanderbilt soccer, basketball and baseball and even included the very first live broadcast on SEC Network – a Vanderbilt women’s soccer match. I caught up with the Bowling Green native after his morning radio show on the top-rated “Wake Up Zone,” airing on 104.5 The Zone. “I had an uncle who worked in radio, and he always inspired me,” Ingram said. “I majored in broadcasting at Western Kentucky, and I always knew that I wanted to announce games more than anything.” Today, Ingram is a versatile and highly respected voice in the Nashville community. In addition to his collegiate athletics background, Ingram has covered the Nashville Predators and Tennessee Titans, as well as high school football and baseball. Speaking on Coach Rick Byrd and being around the Belmont program for 13 years, Ingram said, “It’s tremendous to be a part of a program that has such a legendary coach and guys who do things the right away. It has a family feel to it, and they’ve made me feel like a part of it.” Ingram has developed such a close relationship with Byrd that he can even do a spot-on impersonation of the coach. Through his coverage of college basketball over the years, Ingram has also added legendary coaches Mike Krzyzewski and Rick Pitino to his repertoire. He was nice enough to let us catch some of the now-renowned impressions on video.
