Southeast Missouri junior
Ryan McCrum is among 41 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), Division II, III, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) collegiate placekickers named to the 2015 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List.
Individuals were nominated by their colleges for excellence on the football field and in the community. McCrum was one of 10 finalists for the Fred Mitchell Award last season.
"These placekickers are impressive on the football field and off the field representing their schools, their football teams, their conferences, their communities, their families and themselves," said Fred Mitchell Award Selection Committee Chairman Chris Kearney. "We look forward to following their accomplishments during the next few months."
Of the 41 kickers, 25 led their team in scoring last season. The Watch List includes placekickers from more than 750 eligible colleges.
"It is a pleasure to include these fine young men on the Watch List for this award, which is celebrating its seventh year in 2015," added Mitchell. "We are delighted to recognize them based on outstanding performance in the community and expectations going into the 2015 college football season. It is also a thrill to see so many familiar names on the Watch List, including a record-high 22 nominees and six placekickers that were among the top 10 last season."
The breakdown of the 41 placekickers include 12 FCS, 11 Division II, 12 Division III, five NAIA and one NJCAA.
