MURRAY, Ky. - Third-seeded Eastern Kentucky defeated No. 2 Tennesseee Tech, 1-0, in double overtime to advance to the finals of the 2017 OVC Soccer Championship. The Colonels will play Murray State for the Championship on Sunday.
Haley Kemper scored her second goal of the season with less than two minutes remaining in the second overtime to send the Colonels to the championship match.
Jordan Foster led the Colonels with four shots, three of them being on goal. Eastern Kentucky goalkeeper Anna Hall made six saves in the match to pick up the shutout.
The Golden Eagles led by Katie Shipley with four shots. Tennessee Tech goalkeeper Kari Naerdemann made fives stops and gave up one goal in the match.
MURRAY STATE 1, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 0
MURRAY, Ky. - Top-seeded Murray State defeated No. 5 Southeast Missouri, 1-0, to advance to the finals of the 2017 OVC Soccer Championship. The Racers will face Eastern Kentukcy in the championship match on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
Murray State's Miyah Watford scored her fifth goal of the season with just over 15 minutes left to play in the first half. It proved to be the game-winning score.
Harriet Withers led the Racers with four shots in the match. Murray State goalkeeper Alex Steigerwald made a pair of saves to record the shutout.
Southeast Missouri was led by Esmie Gonzales with three shots. Redhawks goalkeeper Kindra Lierz recorded two stops and allowed just one goal.
