 The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team had a strong fourth quarter in a, 71-64, win over Lipscomb Friday night in the Gentry Center.

After battling through the first three quarters, Tennessee State outscored Lipscomb, 24-16, to pull away down the stretch.

TSU (2-6) won its second consecutive game at home while Lipscomb fell to 2-9 on the season.

Taylor Roberts led TSU with 18 points to go with eight rebounds while Tia Wooten scored 16. Kaliya Griffin finished with 13 points while Asia Sims pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds.
Lipscomb had four players score in double-digits but lost the battle of the boards, 42-27.

TSU was up 12-7 when Lipscomb used an 8-0 run to take the lead.

The Lady Tigers scored the final four points of the quarter to capture a brief lead but the Lady Bisons used another 7-0 spurt to reclaim the advantage.

Back-to-back plays from Taylor Roberts and Tia Wooten sparked a rally pulled TSU even and from there, the teams traded buckets.

The score was 32-31 in favor of TSU at the break.

Lipscomb opened the second half by outscoring TSU, 9-2 but the Lady Tigers answered with a spurt of their own.

With 1:03 remaining, Asia Sims buried a timely three-pointer to give TSU a 69-64 lead.

Taylor Roberts went to the line with 28 seconds remaining and made two free-throws to move the Lady Tigers ahead, 71-64.

TSU returns to action on Dec. 21 versus Marshall. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in Gentry Center.
