ATHENS, Ga. - Behind 21 points and nine rebounds from sophomore Dylan Windler, Belmont University men's basketball defeated Georgia, 78-69, Wednesday night in the first round of the 2017 Postseason NIT.
It marked the ninth-straight season that an OVC men's basketball team has won at least one game in a national postseason tournament.
The Bruins led wire-to-wire. Belmont led 37-34 at halftime and made its first six 3-point field goals of the second half to build a 57-45 lead.
Seniors Taylor Barnette and Evan Bradds each scored 15 points, while junior Amanze Egekeze had 14.
Junior Austin Luke had eight assists and three steals.
J.J. Frazier led Georgia (19-15) with 29 points.
Belmont (23-6) advances to play at Georgia Tech in the second round of the Postseason NIT. That game is on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
