CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
Austin Peay State University and Belmont University split a pair of Ohio Valley Conference games, Monday afternoon at Cheryl Holt Field, with the Bruins taking Game 1 by a 7-0 final, with the Govs coming back to take the nightcap, 5-1.

Brooklin Lee (15-7) was the story in Game 1 for Belmont (30-16, 6-9 OVC) holding the Govs to just two hits, while striking out 15 and walking three.

On offense, the Bruins would get two, two-run homers in the contest – one by Jordan Spicer in the second inning and from Lexi Rouse in the fifth.

The other three Belmont runs came in the fourth, with Spicer picking up and RBI with a single and Baylee Cook with double.

In Game 2, Austin Peay’s Kelsey Gross (8-8) held the Bruins bats in check, limiting them to just four hits – including a home run by Bailey Sims in the top of the sixth inning for their only run – while striking out four and walking two.

Gross would also have a hand in the Govs (15-27, 3-11 OVC) offensive attack, driving in their first two runs on the game with a double in the bottom of the second inning, while Emily Moore drove in a third run, also with a double.

The Govs final two runs came in the bottom of the fifth inning, with Kendall Vedder bring in a run with a bases-loaded walk and Drew Dudley scoring a run with a sacrifice fly.
