NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Powered by a pair of home runs, Belmont Softball was able to snap its longest skid of the season with a win at home on Monday afternoon. The Bruins (31-20, 7-12 OVC) edged out Southeast Missouri (22-26, 7-13 OVC), 6-5, in a make up game at E.S. Rose Park.
Sophomore Jordan Spicer (Hendersonville, Tenn.) was flawless at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and a home run. Classmate Baylee Cook (Lewisburg, Tenn.) went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run and an RBI.
Inside the circle, freshman Abby Irwin (Nolesnville, Tenn.) and junior Lexi Rouse (Macon, Ga.) shared time, combining for seven strikeouts.
Southeast Missouri's Rachel Anderson hit her seventh home run of the season in the game. She finished the day with three runs scored. Darby Pruett and Ashely Ellis led the Redhawks with two RBI each.
Mackenzie Hoelting was tagged with the loss.
