Complete Fred Mitchell Award Watch List

Tennessee State senior Lane Clark and Tennessee Tech junior Nick Madonia have been named to the 2017 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List. The Fred Mitchell Award is given to the nation’s top collegiate place-kicker and takes into consideration excellence on the field and in the community.

Overall 35 kickers were named to the initial watch list, including just six from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The winner will be announced in December.

Clark was named to four All-American teams a season ago after he connected on 17-of-25 field goals and ranking fifth nationally in field goals made/game (1.55). He connected on four field goals of 50 yards or longer (57, 55, 54, 52) including establishing a new TSU record with his 57-yarder against UT Martin.

Madonia also connected on a 57-yard field goal in 2016, setting a new TTU single-game record. For the season he made 13-of-16 field goals and 33-of-35 point after attempts.
