MOREHEAD, Ky. - Murray State defeated Morehead State, 1-0, in overtime to open up OVC play at Jayne Stadium on Thurday night. With the win the Racers improve to 6-0 overall while the Eagles fall to 1-6.
After neither team could score through regulation, Murray State's Rebecca Kubin found the back of the net nearly eight minutes into the first overtime. Cori Cain recorded the assist on the golden goal. It was Kubin's third goal of the season.
The Racers outshot the Eagles, 14-6.
Murray State goalkeeper Alex Steigerwald made three saves to earn her second shutout of the season.
Morgan Treser led Morehead State with two shots, while Damante, Ashley Ritchie, Lauryn Kunz, and Katie Kiolbassa each recorded one.
The Eagles' goalkeeper Michelle Washburn made five stops on the night.
