SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 72, MISSOURI S&T 69
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Ledarrius Brewer turned in a double-double 20 points and 11 rebounds, and made three free throws with seven seconds left to give Southeast Missouri (4-3) a 72-69 victory over Missouri S&T (2-4) Tuesday night at the Show Me Center.
SEMO trailed, 69-68, following a layup by Ervin Sarajlic with 24 seconds left. Brewer was then fouled by CJ Hedgepeth behind the 3-point arc and went to the free throw line to shoot three.
Brewer calmly buried all three of his attempts -- the only free throws he shot all night -- to grab the Redhawks their fourth win of the season.
The Miners had one final chance, but Brewer knocked the ball loose from Hedgepeth into Gabe McGlothan's hands as time expired.
Skyler Hogan's layup gave SEMO its largest lead at 57-46 with 11:21 remaining in the second half.
Missouri S&T, however, kept chipping away and managed to get within one (57-56) on a layup by Jordan Newt with 7:37 on the clock.
Mark Laros rebounded a missed layup by Jonathan Dalton and scored to put the Redhawks up by three and freshman Alex Caldwell buried a 3-pointer to make it a two-possession game with just under six minutes to go.
McGlothan later sunk a jumper to widen SEMO's lead to 68-61 at the 3:18 mark before the Miners countered with a 6-0 run. Romain Louiserre made a pair of free throws at the end of that surge to cut the Redhawks advantage to one before the Miners took the lead.
SEMO shot 59.3 percent (16-of-27) from the field in the first half and headed into the locker room ahead, 39-32.
Hogan drained back-to-back 3-pointers to ignite a 18-9 run in the final 7:06 of the opening stanza. McGlothan contributed five points during that stretch.
Brewer shot 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-6 from 3-point range as the double-double was his first this season and second of his career. The 20-point effort marked his fifth as a Redhawk as well.
Hogan followed with 14 points for his fourth double-digit performance in seven starts. He went 6-of-9 from the field and added four rebounds.
McGlothan narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds, while Caldwell chipped in seven points and a team-high four assists.
SEMO shot 49.2 percent (29-of-59) for the game and outrebounded Missouri S&T, 41-33. The Redhawks overcame a season-high 22 turnovers to pick up their 28th-consecutive win over a non-Division I opponent.
Hedgepeth led Missouri S&T with a game-high 28 points, while Srajlic and Louiserre followed with 13 and 11 points, respectively. The Miners outscored the Redhawks 13-6 at the free throw line and 37-33 in the second half.
NORTHERN KENTUCKY 93, MOREHEAD STATE 71
MOREHEAD, Ky. - Senior guard A.J. Hicks tied his own school record with nine steals Tuesday night, but his Eagle men's basketball team saw Northern Kentucky pull away in the second half as MSU fell 93-71 to the Norse at Johnson Arena.

The Norse scored the first five and later held a 14-10 lead at the 14:16 mark of the opening half. An 11-0 run henceforth for the visitors turned the tide into a 27-21 Norse lead at the 7:41 media timeout. The Norse held a 46-38 advantage at the halftime break.
A 7-0 run by the Norse to open the second half catapulted them as the visitors ended up leading by as much as 26 in the final half. NKU shot 68 percent in the final half and 63 percent for the night.
