SIUE 2, EASTERN KENTUCKY 1
RICHMOND, Ky. -
SIUE defeated Eastern Kentucky, 2-1, in both teams OVC opener in Richmond, Ky. on Friday afternoon.
The Colonels (4-5-0, 0-1-0 OVC) jumped out to a quick lead, as junior Erin Torrence scored her third goal of the year in the 12th minute to make it 1-0. Redshirt freshman Sarah Owusu recorded her first assist of the year on the play.

However, SIUE (2-4-0, 1-0-0 OVC) rallied in the second half. Courtney Benning scored the equalizer in the 56th minute, and Amanda DiNardo added the game-winner in the 79th minute to cap the comeback.

The Cougars outshot the Colonels, 16-8, on the day.

Owusu paced EKU with three shots in the game, one of which was on frame.

Freshman goalkeeper Zoe Aguirre made two saves in the loss.

Senior Kacy Eckley and sophomore Katie Shaffer played all 90 minutes on the Colonel backline.

AUSTIN PEAY 1, BELMONT 1
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
The Belmont women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw in its Ohio Valley Conference opener on the road at Austin Peay.

It's Belmont's fourth straight positive outcome, the longest active unbeaten streak in the OVC. The Bruins have posted a 2-0-2 record in that stretch to move to 2-3-2 overall, now with a 0-0-1 mark in conference matchups.

Belmont turned up the energy in the 23rd minute when the Bruins drew a foul just outside the attacking 18-yard box. Senior midfielder Jessi Boozer (Brentwood, Tenn.) took the free kick from there, scoring her first goal of the season.

Belmont turned away Austin Peay shot after shot until the 61st minute. The Governors (5-2-1, 0-0-1 OVC) tied the game there on Claire Larose's fourth goal of the year.

APSU held the advantage in ball control for most of the game, outshooting the Bruins 22-11. The work of junior goalkeeper Lily Herman (Springboro, Ohio) – who made six saves – and the Belmont defense defused most of the scoring opportunities though.

With nine more conference games coming to determine Belmont's postseason place, the Bruins know they can improve on Friday's possession percentage.

EASTERN ILLINOIS 1, MOREHEAD STATE 0
MOREHEAD, Ky. -
Eastern Illinois women's soccer defeated Morehead State, 1-0 to open up Conference play on Friday afternoon.

The Panthers' Lexi Ketterhagen found the back of the net in the 85th minute to finish off a goal created by passes from Angela Corcoran and Sarah DeWolf. Ketterhagen shot across the goal from left corner of the goalie box to beat the Eagles' redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Eva Helgadottir.

Despite being shutout, Morehead State controlled possession for most of the match and played very aggressively on the offensive end outshooting EIU 15-8. Senior forward Dani Wilson lead the attack with nine shots, six on goal.

Helgadottir, who entered the match ninth national for total saves, stopped four goals to bring her season save total to 53.
