JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -
For the second consecutive year and just the second time in 17 meetings, Jacksonville State and Troy played to a scoreless draw on Tuesday night at the JSU Soccer Field.

The draw was the second of the season for the Gamecocks, who will not turn their attention to the third in-state rival contest on Friday against Samford with a 2-2-2 overall mark. The Trojans moved to 1-4-1 overall. The Friday night affair at the JSU Soccer Field will get underway at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs (1-4) will be visiting Jacksonville for the first time since 2014.

Last season, Troy and Jax State met in Mobile, Alabama on the South Alabama campus and came away with no decision.

The rare Tuesday night activity featured 29 combined shots with the Gamecocks having a plus-five advantage in total shots. JSU had a balanced attack throughout the match with eight attempts in the first 45 minutes and six in the second half. JSU had three of the four total shots in the two extra sessions - all coming in the second 10-minute period. After being limited to three shots in the first half, JSU thwarted many opportunities for the Trojans in the second half. Troy had collected eight if its 12 shots in the second half.

Making her first career start as a Gamecocks, redshirt freshman Abigail Martinez shared team-high shot honors with junior Emma Meadows. The duo had four shots each, including three combined on-goal chances. Senior Claire Petersen turned in three shots as the other Gamecock with multiple attempts. Troy had three players with a pair of shots recorded, including two on goal looks from Kate Lorenz.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Morgan Lerch tallied her third shutout of the season. Lerch finished with two saves in the contest. Troy's Aydogmus Acelya grabbed eight stops.
