-  Carrie Shephard scored a game-high 23 points and buried five 3-pointers to lead Southeast Missouri (7-3) to a 68-58 win over Indiana State (2-9) Saturday.

SEMO stormed out to a 10-0 lead with eight oi fits first 10 points belonging to Shephard. ISU also went the first 5:20 without a point.

After that, the Redhawks never looked back and carried a 33-25 advantage into halftime.

SEMO continued to pour it on and outscored the Sycamores, 20-11, in the third quarter to take a 53-38 advantage. SEMO then led by as many as 24 when Roshala Scott converted.a 3-point play after drawing a foul on her layup in the fourth quarter.

Shephard scored 14 points in the first half alone and made five of her nine total field goals from 3-point range. 

Jessie Harshberger followed with 12 points and LaTrese Saine added six blocks. Saine tied SEMO's single-game record in blocks. 

Adrian Folks topped ISU with a double-double 11 points and 11 rebounds. Caitlyn Anderson, however, scored a team-high 13 points.

The Redhawks outrebounded the Sycamores, 50-41.

SEMO gave ISU its seventh loss in a row.

The Redhawks return to action when they host Harris-Stow on Dec. 29.

MARQUETTE 53, BELMONT 51
MILWAUKEE, Wis
. - The Belmont Bruins dropped to the Marquette Golden Eagles, 53-51, on the road Saturday afternoon at Al McGuire Center. Kenosha, Wisc. native Ellie Harmeyer logged her sixth double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds, as she also tallied a season-high four assists.

Senior Maura Muensterman posted her third 16-point game of the year with a season-best five 3-pointers made. Fellow senior Maddie Wright added seven points and a career-high 15 rebounds on the day for the Bruins (5-6). 

Freshman Jordan King and senior Isabelle Spingola propelled the Golden Eagles (9-2) with 12 points each. Junior Selena Lott dished out a team-high nine assists for Marquette.

After falling behind 4-0 after two minutes of play, a driving layup from Harmeyer knotted the game back up with 6:31 left in the first quarter. Following a 5-0 run from the Golden Eagles, Belmont outscored Marquette 12-3 to end the period and take a 16-12 lead. Muensterman fueled the Bruins with a pair of 3-pointers, with one coming in the final seconds. 

Belmont held the Golden Eagles scoreless for over four minutes and extended its lead to a game-high 12 points to start the second quarter. A 3-pointer from Harmeyer gave the Bruins a 24-12 advantage at the 6:35 mark. Harmeyer knocked down two free throws and freshman Kiki Britzmann hit layup in traffic, as Belmont went into the half up 28-20. 

The Bruins out-rebounded their counterparts by a 25-22 margin, as Harmeyer nearly put up a first-half double-double of 10 points and nine rebounds. Belmont held the Golden Eagles to 21 percent shooting from the field after two quarters. 

Sophomore Jamilyn Kinney knocked down a shot from beyond-the-arc to kick off the Bruin second half at the 8:07 mark. Another 3-pointer from Muensterman extended Belmont's lead to 35-25 with over six minutes remaining in the third quarter. Marquette closed the gap with a 9-1 run, but a pair of makes from the foul line from Muensterman kept the lead for the Bruins. A second-chance jumper from the Golden Eagles with 30 seconds left knotted the game up at 36 after three quarters. 

Marquette took its first lead of the second half on a paint layup, but Muensterman put Belmont ahead 39-38 with a make from deep range. After both sides traded buckets, the Bruins held a 51-46 advantage behind a 3-point make from sophomore Conley Chinn. The Golden Eagles scored the following seven points of the game to take a 2-point lead with 22 seconds left in the game. Belmont saw a couple of 3-point looks for the win but were unable to connect on either attempt. 

Kinney and Chinn combined for 13 points, five rebounds and four assists, as Britzmann rounded out the Bruins' scoring with four points and a pair of boards. Overall, Belmont led for 26 minutes in the Saturday contest that featured six lead changes. The Bruins tallied their seventh 40-rebound game of the season against Marquette. 

 After a short break for the holidays, Belmont kicks off OVC play with consecutive home contests against SIU Edwardsville (Jan. 2) and Eastern Illinois (Jan. 4).

TENNESSEE TECH 78, LIPSCOMB 58
COOKEVILLE, Tenn
. -  Four Golden Eagles notched double-figure performances as Tech women's basketball earned a decisive 20-point victory, 78-58, against the Lipscomb Lady Bisons in their first contest in the Hoop since Nov. 12 on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles (6-4) earn their second back-to-back victories of the season with their win over Lipscomb (2-10), the other time being against Cumberland (Tenn.) and ULM to open the season.

Senior Anacia Wilkinson highlighted the day as she posted her second double-double and third contest with double-figure scoring of the season. Her state line read 16 points, on 7-of-15 from the floor and a perfect 2-of-2 from the line, while adding 11 boards, three blocks, and an assist.

Joining her in double-figures was junior Jordan Brock with 13 points, on 4-of-9 from the field, 3-of-7 from 3-point range, and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line, in addition to a board and an assist. Senior Akia Harris and junior Mackenzie Coleman both tallied 11 points apiece, both of which narrowly missed double-doubles of their own. Harris dished out nine assists, pulled down five rebounds, and grabbed a pair of steals, while Coleman grabbed eight boards and blocked a shot. Junior Kesha Brady also had a fantastic day pulling down 10 rebounds, and coming slightly short of a double-double with eight points and two assists.

Lipscomb also had four in double-figures with Taylor Clark leading the way with 14 points, followed by Keeley Morrow and Carleigh Short with 11 points apiece, and Jalyn Holcomb with 10 points.

Tech jumped out to a 7-4 lead before the Lady Bisons would respond on a 7-2 run to take an 11-9 lead at the first media timeout of the contest. The Golden Eagles traded baskets with the Lady Bisons through a 13-11 Lipscomb lead. However, back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers from Megan Clark, Abby Buckner, and Maaliya Owens capped off an 11-2 run over the final two and a half minutes to give Tech a 20-13 lead, one the Golden Eagles would not relinquish for the remaining 30 minutes of play.

Tech broke a third-quarter trend that saw the Golden Eagles trail their opponent over the past two contests as the Golden Eagles outscored Lipscomb 18-12 in the third frame to take a 54-42 into the final 10 minutes of play. Wilkinson and Harris opened the final quarter with a layup in the paint and a 3-point jumper to push Tech's lead to 17-point advantage, 59-42, at the final media timeout of the game. The Golden Eagles outscored the Lady Bisons 19-16 over the final nine minutes of play to seal the 78-58 win.

The Golden Eagles shot 41.5 percent (27-of-65) from the field, 33.3 percent (10-of-29) from 3-point range, and 87.5 percent (14-of-16) from the free throw line for the game.

Tech takes a break for the Christmas holiday before returning to the Hoop on Dec. 29 for its final non-conference contest of the season as the Golden Eagles host Tennessee Wesleyan at 2 p.m. CT.


NORTH ALABAMA 85, SIUE 67
ATLANTA, Ga
. -  SIUE held the nation's top Division I offense to less than its season average but fell short in the opening game of the GSU Classic, hosted by Georgia State.

The Cougars dropped to 2-8 after an 85-67 loss to North Alabama, which is averaging better than 91 points a game this season.

SIUE held the Lions to 11 points in the first quarter. North Alabama overcame a 26-25 SIUE lead in the second period with a 10-2 run to close out the first half.

The Lions, which are in transition to NCAA Division I status, took over in the second half behind 26 points off the bench from Jaida Bond. North Alabama, 8-2, hit 10 three-pointers for the game and outrebounded the Cougars 50-43.

Allie Troeckler tied her career high in scoring for the Cougars with 20 points. She added a game-high 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.

Kelsie Williams came off the bench for 10 points. It was the second straight game in which the sophomore from St. Louis had a career best in in scoring.
