COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Tech defeated Akron, 73-59, in the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitational on Thursday in Cookeville. It marked the first postseason win for the Golden Eagles since 2006 when they defeated Belmont in the first round of the WNIT.
Tennessee Tech had four players reach double digits in scoring. Anacia Wilkinson came off the bench to lead Tech with 19 points and 11 rebonds, shooting 61.5 percent from the floor.
Kesha Brady added 18 point from the bench, hitting all eight her free throw attemptps.
Akia Harris added 12 points to go with nine assist while Kentoria Alexander had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Campbell for the second round of th WBI on Monday. Game time is set for 6 p.m. CT.
