OVC Track & Field Athletes of the Week – March 27
MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ben Weisel, Jr., Nashville, Tenn. – Belmont
Weisel placed sixth in the 1,500 meters at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational last week. His time of 3:52.24 is first in the OVC and ranks 23
rd in the NCAA East Region. He also ran the 800 meters in a time of 1:55.60 which is fifth in the OVC this season.
Matt O’Connor, Sr., Elgin, Ill. – SIUE
O’Connor recorded a pair of top five finishes at the SIU Bill Cornell Spring Classic last week. He took second in the 800 meters with a league-leading time of 1:51.29. He finished fourth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:52.62. That time ranks second in the OVC this year.

FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Sabrina Richman, So., Atlanta, Ga. – Austin Peay
Richman took second out of 43 runners in the 400-meter dash as the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational. Her time of 55.21 is the best in the OVC this season an id 27
th in the East Region. She also ran leg of the 4x400-meter relay that finished second with a mark of 3:50.47.
Purity Sanga, So., Kapsabet, Kenya – Tennessee Tech
Sanga took second out of 76 competitors in the 1,500 meters at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational. Her time of 4:26.32 is first in the OVC, seventh in the NCAA East Region and 13
th nationally.

nd in the NCAA East Region.
R’Lazon Brumfield, So., Jacksonville, Fla. – Tennessee State
Brumfield won the long jump at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational. His jump of 24-07.75 which is first in the OVC and ranks 23
rd NCAA East Region.

Mattsson placed eighth in the hammer throw at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational last week. Her toss of 176-0 is first in the OVC this year and ranks 62
nd in the NCAA East Region.
Khemani Roberts, Sr., Bon Accord, Trinidad and Tobago – Tennessee Tech
Roberts placed third in the high jump at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational with a mark of 5’07.25. The distance is first in the OVC this year and ranks 24
th in the NCAA East while also ranking 44
th nationally.
