COLORADO 2, AUSTIN PEAY 0
BOULDER, Colo. –
At 5,430 feet of altitude, Austin Peay State University found itself locked in a close match, before Colorado was able to pull away late in the second half.

The Governors defense kept them in the match in the first half against Colorado. Led by senior captains Renee Semaan and Mary Parker Powell, the Governor defense warded off all nine Colorado shots, including three saves from Powell, to keep the match tied after the first 45 minutes. In the 64th minute Colorado found the back of the net first. The Buffaloes added another goal in the 88th minute to knock off the Govs, 2-0.

After weather delayed the start of the match for an hour, the Govs took the opening kickoff and in the 11th minute, junior Claire Larose got off the match’s first shot. Larose had a team-high four shots, including one of the Govs two shots on goal. Both of the Govs shots on goal came in the second half, with junior Morgan Drawdy supplying the second chance on net.

Playing in the high altitude, only one Governor played all 90 minutes of tonight’s match. Renee Semaan stayed on the pitch all night, logging her team leading 380th minute, as she remains the only Gov who has yet to leave the field this season.

In another solid defensive effort, Austin Peay keeper Mary Parker Powell made four saves before the Buffaloes were able to sneak one past her. Colorado scored the game winner in the 64th minute, and was able to hold on from there to stay unbeaten on the season. Despite another tough battle, the Govs drop to 0-3-1 for the 2019 season.

The Govs will be back in action on Sunday for a noon match at Northern Colorado.

EKU (1-4) had chances to level, as the Colonels outshot the Jaguars, 12-10, on the evening; however, the IUPUI defense held on for the clean sheet.

Junior Taran McMillan came off the bench to lead Eastern with three shots, two of which were put on frame. Senior Marian Wolski, sophomore Baylee Lanter and freshman Audrey Anderson all fired two shots in the defeat.

Blevins and Autumn Weeks paced the Jaguars with three shots apiece.

TROY 2, JACKSONVILLE STATE 1
TROY, Ala.
- Jacksonville State freshman Cynthia Bagozzi netted her third goal of the season on Thursday against Troy to equalize, but a Trojan goal in the 76th minute pushed the Trojans past the Gamecocks, 2-1, at the Troy Soccer Complex.

The tough setback dropped JSU to 2-3 overall, while Troy remained unbeaten on the season at 3-0-2. Jax State will continue its string of matches against in-state competition on Sunday in Montgomery against the Hornets of Alabama State. ASU dropped a 5-0 decision to UAB in Birmingham on Thursday night.

After the two clubs played to back-to-back scoreless draws in 2017 and 2018, the Trojans broke the scoring deadlock right before the halftime break. Troy's Nilou Asdigha netted the first goal of the match in the 40th minute.

Another strong second half performance by the Gamecocks allowed them to equalize the match five minutes deep into the half as Bagozzi delivered the tying goal. The Orlando, Florida native took the assist from sophomore transfer Cephana Deane. The assist was Deane's first as a Gamecock. Bagozzi's goal moved her into third on the Ohio Valley Conference's list of goal scorers this season.

Troy regained the advantage in the 76th minute with Grace Mirly's go-ahead and eventual game-wining goal. Troy's Kiersten Edlund was credited with an assist on both Trojan goals.

Sunday's outing with the Hornets is set for 1 p.m. on the ASU campus.
