MOREHEAD, Ky.
- Down 2-1 to Murray State Saturday, the Morehead State volleyball program again used a stingy defense to hold back the Racers and allow the offense to shine as well as the Eagles defeated the Racers 3-2 at Johnson Arena.

Murray grabbed the first set 25-21 before the home team rebounded to win set two 25-18. The Racers edged ahead with a 25-22 set-three win, but Morehead State held the Racers to a .000 hitting percentage (13 kills, 13 errors) in the final two sets to win 25-14 and 15-6.

Morehead State improved to 6-9 overall and evened its OVC mark at 2-2. 

It was the net defense that shined again. Just like Friday night with 14 team blocks, the Eagles turned back 13 today. Freshman Irene Wogenstahl, who set a career-high with six blocks in Friday's win, added one more today for a career-best seven. She also added eight kills with just one error.

Freshman Maycie Welborn also broke out with the defense, rejecting a career-high six. Grad student Olivia Lohmeier, typically leading the team in kills (which she did as well), also notched a season-high six blocks.

Lohmeier led the team with 19 kills and added nine digs for a near-miss double-double. Sophomore Abby Hulsman had her 11th double-digit kill match with 14. The Eagles also hit .241 and landed seven aces.

Junior libero Allison Whitten was again all over the back row with a team-high 18 digs after getting a career-best 40 on Friday. Olivia Montelisciani and Andrea Grimes added 12 scoops apiece.

Three Racers recorded double-digit kills in the five setter, led by Brooke Lynn Watts who picked up her second straight double-double with team-high 20 kills and 11 digs. 

Alexa Harris put down 14 kills with one solo block and nine digs while Kolby McClelland added 12 kills and three block assists and one ace in the match. 

Libero Becca Fernandez was once again all over the court as she collected 33 digs. Dahlia Miller also came up with double-digit digs, 15 in the match. 

UT MARTIN 3, EASTERN ILLINOIS 0
MARTIN, Tenn
. - The Panthers drop their second match on the weekend against UT Martin by a score of 0-3. UT Martin won all set by scores of 17-25, 16-25, and 17-25. EIU loses their fourth conference game, and drop to 7-7 on the season.

Eastern started the first set down four points, 12-16. UT Martin then went on a 5-0 run to go up 16-21, and would finish the set winning 17-25. Emily Wilcox went three for six in the first set on kills, and Summerlyn Smith picked up eight assists. Annika Black and Kameryn Sillmon both picked up a block in the set. UT Martin was let by Karen Scanlon with five kills with Jessica Reynolds and Addison Conley both adding four kills.

EIU was down 7-14 early in the second, but fought back to make it 10-14 with a 3-0 run. The Skyhawks would extend their lead to 11-19, and eventually go on to win 16-25.  Sillmon picked up another block in the set with Wilcox collecting two of her own. The Panthers had a 0.77 hitting percentage through two sets. Scanlon picked up four more kills and Conley added five of her own for UT Martin.

UT Martin would close the day winning 17-25 after the Panthers kept it close early with a score of 12-16.  Ireland Hieb added three kills in the final set, and Bailey Chandler added five assists but it was not enough on Saturday afternoon. Scanlon collected four more kills for the Skyhawks as they would go on to win the match 0-3.

UT Martin was led by Scanlon with 13 kills, Conley with 11 kills, Haeleigh Paulino with 17 assists, and Addy Vaughn with 16 assists. The Skyhawks improved to 8-10 on the season.

EIU had contributions from Wilcox with five kills and three blocks, Hieb with four kills and two blocks, Sillmon with four kills and four blocks, and Chandler and Smith with 10 assists each. EIU drops to 0-4 in the conference.

AUSTIN PEAY 3, SIUE 0
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.
- Austin Peay State University's volleyball team recorded its second straight three-set Ohio Valley Conference victory (25-19, 25-10, 25-18) over SIUE, Friday afternoon at the Winfield Dunn Center. 

The Govs controlled momentum throughout the entirety of the match and only trailed once in their win over the Cougars.

Fifth-year senior Brooke Moore led the Govs in kills 15 on a .419 hitting percentage – her second-highest mark of the season. 

Mikayla Powell and Maggie Keenan both had efficient afternoons, with Powell tying her season-high in hitting percentage with a .438 clip and adding four blocks and a pair of digs. Keenan had a team-high .750 hitting percentage with six kills and four blocks—the sophomore's 11th match of the season with at least a quartet of blocks.

Austin Peay's win marked the eighth straight over the Cougars, tying the team's longest active winning streak over an opponent (Tennessee State).

Austin Peay pulled away early in the first set with a 5-1 run to take a 10-5 lead and never allowed SIUE to trim the deficit to under two. Moore and Keenan combined for 10 kills in the set and the Govs took the early lead with a 25-19 victory.

The Govs extended their lead with a dominant 25-10 second-set win, allowing the Cougars to collect just five kills while posting five errors.

Austin Peay finished off weekend sweep of SIUE with another strong defensive performance in the third set.  

SIUE was led by Sydney Hummert with nine kills while Grace Hurst had a team-high 13 digs. Alyse Drifka dished out a team-best 13 assists. 

TENNESSEE TECH 3, TENNESSEE STATE 1
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -
Tennessee Tech defeated Tennessee State in four sets (25-14, 17-25, 26-24, 25-15) on Saturday night. 

The Golden Eagle had three players reach double digits in kills with Taylor Dorsey leading the way with 13. Madolyn Isringhausen and Morgan Gish each had 11. Ashley Hand notched a double-double with 46 assists and 14 digs while McKenna Young recorded a team-high 17 digs. 

Aria Holmes and Kendall Washington each had 10 kills to lead the Tigers. Sofia Garcia-Guerrios dished out a team-best 29 asists while Gina Ortiz Rivera led all players with 23 digs.
