SIUE 1, TENNESSEE TECH 0
COOKEVILLE, Tenn
. - Following a two-match run without a win, SIUE women's soccer returned to form on Tuesday night with a 1-0 victory over Tennessee Tech.

After both teams went scoreless through the opening half, the Cougars had to rely on their dynamic duo of Lily Schnieders and MacKenzie Litzsinger to break the tie - and that's exactly what they did, as the Tennessee Tech goalkeeper padded away a shot from Schnieders and Litzsinger took the rebound and neatly netted the match's lone goal. That goal was Litzsinger's sixth of the season and marked Schnieders' fifth assist through eight games. This also marked the fourth clean sheet of the season for SIUE netminder Taylor Spiller.

EASTERN KENTUCKY 1, BELMONT 0
RICHMOND, Ky.
- Sophomore Michaela Iacono scored on a penalty kick in the 27 minute and senior goalkeeper Billie Clark made five saves, including one in the 88th minute, as the Eastern Kentucky University soccer team shut out Belmont, 1-0, on Tuesday.

It is the Colonels’ (4-4-0) third consecutive victory.

Junior Baylee Lanter was fouled in the box 27 minutes into the game. Iacono calmly buried the ensuing PK into the bottom left corner of the net for her team-leading third goal of the season.

Iacono now leads the OVC with three game-winners this season.

The goal was all the EKU defense needed. Belmont threatened in the 88th minute when Keely Cartrett headed a cross towards the net, but Clark made a spectacular save to seal the victory.

It was the second clean sheet in the last three games for the senior.

EKU outshot Belmont, 18-13, and put eight shots on frame, compared to the Bruins’ five.

Iacono, sophomore Audrey Anderson and freshman Kylie Fitzgerald all fired two shots on goal.

Iacono, senior center backs Katie Shaffer and Claire Hicks and sophomore midfielder Ali Kirk played all 90 minutes of the shutout for the Colonels.

EASTERN ILLINOIS 3, JACKSONVILLE STATE 2
CHARLESTON, Ill
. - – Eastern Illinois women’s soccer closed its 2021 spring home schedule on Tuesday afternoon picking up a 3-2 win over Jacksonville State at Lakeside Field.

The Panthers, who had scored just two goals in the first eight matches of the season, collected two goals in the first 12 minutes on Tuesday against JSU.

Itxaso Aguero converted a penalty kick in the 10th minute and Nicoletta Anuci found the back of the net just one minute, five seconds later to give the Panthers the early advantage.  Pilar Barrio assisted Anuci’s goal.

JSU cut the margin in half twenty seconds after Anuci’s goal as Ali Thomas scored just into the 12th minute on an assist from Alicia Pallister.

In the second half Pallister would even the match at 2-2 as she scored in the 51st minute.

Aguero then scored her second goal of the day, the match winner, in the 63rd minute.

EIU had 11 shots for the day with seven shots on goal.  Aguero had three shots on goal resulting in the two scores.

JSU had 15 total shots but only four on net for the match.

EIU moved to 2-6-1 on the season while JSU fell to 3-4-1 on the year.

UT MARTIN 2, AUSTIN PEAY 0
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn
. - The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team went on the road and picked up a 2-0 victory at Ohio Valley Conference foe Austin Peay on Tuesday afternoon to earn three points and remain in the OVC Soccer Championship hunt.

The Skyhawks improved to 4-3-1 on the season with the victory while picking up three points to leap into fourth place in the conference standings. With just two matches to play, UT Martin controls its own destiny as only the top four teams make the OVC Soccer Championship field.
UT Martin picked up its fourth win of the season behind a dominating performance over Austin Peay on its home field. The Skyhawks posted their fourth shutout this season while lowering their season goals against average to just 0.71. Defensively, the Skyhawks allowed the Governors to attempt just one shot in the contest and zero on goal.

Goalkeeper Erica Myers earned her 28th career victory and 17th career shutout in the contest.

On the offensive side, the Skyhawks attempted nine shots on the afternoon led by four from Emely van der Vliet. The freshman forward tallied two shots on goal while recording a goal in her second straight contests and the third time this season. Junior Jill Hildreth also scored on the afternoon – tallying her first goal of the season and ninth of her career. Jill’s twin sister Jaden Hildreth joined in the scoring action by notching an assist on van der Vliet’s late goal.

After holding Austin Peay without a shot in the entire first half, UT Martin focused on its offensive effort in the second half to pull out the road victory. Just a few minutes out of the break, the Skyhawks broke through for their first goal as Jill Hildreth found separation from her defender and rifled a shot attempt from 20 yards out to the top left corner of the net for her first goal of the season.

The Skyhawks looked for some additional padding late in the contest as Jaden Hildreth found a streaking van der Vliet who beat the goalkeeper Chloe Dion one-on-one to score from 15 yards out for her third goal of the season.
