. - The Morehead State volleyball team got career-high kill nights from Irene Wogentahl, Sydney Wyman and Kinsey McAfee and rallied after losing the first set to secure a 3-1 win (31-33, 29-27, 25-21, 25-22) over the Eastern Illinois Panthers Friday at home at Johnson Arena.

The victory improved the Eagles' record to 11-11 overall and 7-4 in OVC play. MSU has now won six straight over the Panthers (13-11/7-4 OVC) at home with EIU's last victory in Morehead back in 2011.

Irene Wogenstahl had a match-high nine blocks and dropped in a career-high 21 kills on a career-high .613 hitting percentage. She finished with 29 kills and just three errors on the weekend sweep of the Panthers.

Abby Hulsman registered a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs.

Sydney Wyman hit .400 to go along with her 18 kills.

McAfee saw her role increase and now has 16 kills in the last three matches.

Morehead State put together a strong attacking performance, notching 67 kills in the match.

Morehead State got a match-high 19 digs from Bridget Bessler and a match-high 46 assists for her 10th double-double of 2022.

Shea Hefner served a team-high three aces.

The Eagles had 75 digs. Peighton Isley (17), Hulsman, Bessler, Hefner (10) and Andrea Grimes (10) all reached double digit scoops in the marathon match.

Giovana Larrequi Lopez paced EIU with 19 kills and also had nine digs, while Christina Martinez Mundo led them with 18 digs.

SET 1 | The Eagles dropped a back-and-forth first set, losing 33-31 in a game that featured 10 lead changes and was tied 15 times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match.

SET 2 | Morehead State tied the match at 1-1 after a 29-27 second-set win. The Eagles survived a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured five lead changes and was tied 16 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way. Morehead State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Eastern Illinois attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 13 Eastern Illinois attacking errors on the way to victory.

SET 3 | Morehead State took a 2-1 match lead after taking down the Panthers in the third set. The Eagles took control of the set early when the score was 4-3 and never trailed to win 25-21. Morehead State led by as many as five points at 17-12 before closing out the stanza, collecting 17 kills in the process.

SET 4 | Morehead State finished off the match with a 25-22 fourth-set victory, winning its third straight set. A strong showing on the attacking end led the Eagles to victory in the set. Morehead State put together a .333 attack percentage with 18 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands two times, the Eagles took control for good at 20-19 and rode that advantage to victory.

LITTLE ROCK 3, SOUTHERN INDIANA 0
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.
- Little Rock used a balanced attack as the Trojans recorded a win for the third time in four outings, coasting past Southern Indiana in a 3-0 decision Friday evening at the Jack Stephens Center.
 
The Trojans hit .337 as a team and had six different players record more than five kills with all players hitting in positive numbers. Laure Jansen led the way with nine kills while Daedrianna Cail posted a match-high .600 hitting percentage.
 
Jeila Fullerton came close to a double-double with eight kills and 10 digs to go along with her .439 hitting percentage. Set scores were 25-18, 25-20 and 25-18.
 
The Trojans (6-18, 3-8 Ohio Valley) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the opening set and never looked back, hitting .333 in the set. Daria Burrows put down four kills and Fullerton tallied six digs in the opening frame.
 
The second set marked the only time Southern Indiana (1-20, 1-9) found itself with a lead with their largest advantage coming at the 6-3 mark. The score would flip twice before Fullerton’s kill put Little Rock ahead 15-14, a lead they would not relinquish. Zanobia Willis’ block assist four points into the set pushed her into the top 10 charts in block assists all-time at Little Rock. She would finish with three in the match, surpassing Tajana Andric for 10th in school history with 253 career block assists.
 
Not only did Little Rock never trail in the final set, but the Trojans also never committed a hitting error in the frame, posting a .560 mark as a team. Six different players combined for 14 kills on 25 attacks while adding two blocks. 
 
Southern Indiana was led by Leah Anderson’s double-double as she posted 17 kills and 12 digs while hitting.389 in the match. 


TENNESSEE TECH 3, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 1
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.
- Tennessee Tech defeated Southeast Missouri in four sets (20-25, 30-28, 25-19, 25-19) on Friday night. Tennessee Tech improves to 7-3 in league action and 10-12 overall while the Redhawks fell to 6-5 in the OVC and 11-12 overall. 

Madolyn Isringhausen led Tennessee Tech with 17 kills while adding 13 digs for the double-double. Taylor Dorsey had 10 kills to go with seven blocks. Brooke Amann led the team with 18 digs while McKenna Young had 17 and Aleeya Jones had 14. Jordan Karlen dished out a team-best 39 assists. 

Southeast Missouri's Zoey Beasley notched a team-high 16 kills while Tara Beilsmith posted a team-best 19 digs. Izzy Lukens had a double-double with 18 assists and 11 digs. 

UT MARTIN 3, LINDENWOOD 2
MARTIN, Tenn
. - UT Martin defeated Lindenwood in five sets (27-25, 24-26, 25-8, 18-25, 15-12) on Friday night The Skyhawks improved to 9-2 in the OVC and 15-9 overall while the Lions fell to 7-12 overall and 4-6 in league action. 

Logan Wallick led the Skyhawks with 14 kills while Karen Scanlon added 12 kills and 15 digs. Dylan Mott posted a team best 31 digs while Addy Vaughn had 21 assists. 

Lindenwood's Mackenzie Sifuentes recorded a team-best 12 kills while Amber Schade notched a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Taylor Gentemann also had 10 kills. Nyah Wilson, Abby Buskirk and Jessie Seidel each had 16 digs. 

TENNESSEE STATE 3, SIUE 2
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
- Gabrielle Johnson collected 11 kills with a .563 hitting percentage to help carry the Tennessee State volleyball team to a five-set victory (25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 20-25, 15-7) over the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars Friday at home at Kean Hall Gymnasium.

The victory moved the Lady Tigers' record to 10-14 overall and 4-7 in OVC action.

The Lady Tigers offense was paced by Johanna Alcantara, who finished with 26 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .513. Celestial Miller added 16 and Johnson chipped in with 11 as part of a Tennessee State attack that had four players with double-digit kills. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Gina Rivera-Ortiz had 27 and Sofia Garcia-Guerrios had 11. From the front row, Kennedy Davis contributed six blocks.

Gabrielle Johnson was efficient in attacking situations in the match, accumulating 11 kills while hitting .563. Sofia Garcia-Guerrios had a match-high three aces and 32 assists in the win. Johanna Alcantara had a match-high 26 kills for Tennessee State. Tennessee State got a match-high 27 digs from Gina Rivera-Ortiz.

Sydney Hummert led SIUE with 14 kills to go with 10 digs. Savannah Christian and Ainsley Ranstead each had 11 kills. 

SET 1 | The Lady Tigers won the first point and never looked back to win the first set 25-20. Tennessee State led by as many as six points at 20-14 before finishing off the set. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked six SIU-Edwardsville attacks in the stanza.

SET 2 | Tennessee State won the second set 25-22 to promptly jump to a 2-0 lead. The Lady Tigers survived a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured eight lead changes and was tied 19 times. Neither team led by more than three points along the way. The Lady Tigers racked up 20 kills over the course of the set.

SET 3 | SIU-Edwardsville stayed alive with a set-three victory to make it a 2-1 match. The Lady Tigers came up short by the score of 25-22. SIU-Edwardsville grabbed the advantage for good at 23-22 in a set that was knotted up six times before the Cougars took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 4 | Tennessee State then dropped their second straight set 25-20 to brind the match level at two sets apiece. The Lady Tigers trailed by as many as six points as SIU-Edwardsville grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 and Tennessee State was never able to recover in a set that was tied up five times before the Cougars took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 5 | Tennessee State needed a fifth set to seal the match win. After they jumped out to an early two sets to none lead, SIU-Edwardsville responded to take the third and fourth sets before the Lady Tigers finished off their victory with a 15-7 fifth-set win. The Lady Tigers took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the fifth set to secure the victory. Tennessee State ended on a high note, opening its biggest lead of the stanza, eight points, to close out the set, totaling 11 kills in the process.
