NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee State softball team dropped the non-conference matinee on Tuesday afternoon to Alabama A&M, 5-2.
TOP 3RD: With one out, Lauryn Gross singled and advanced to second base on defensive interference. Gross moved to third base after a single from Tatianna Roman. The Bulldogs successfully completed a double steal in order to score Gross from third. Alabama A&M extended the lead on an RBI double which skipped down the left field line. || AAMU, 2-0
BOT 6TH: To lead off the inning, Jasmine Brown reached on an infield single. Ryla Traylor laced a single to left field to move Brown into scoring position. The Tigers implemented a double steal of their own to move runners to second and third. Peyton Fointno cut the deficit in half with a sacrifice fly to score TSU's first run. After a pitching change, Anayah Baker singled back to the pitcher. With runners at the corners, Tennessee State tied the game on a wild pitch. || TIED, 2-2
TOP 7TH: The Bulldogs' Da'Nijah Wade led off with a bunt single to third base. After a fielder's choice and a single from Roman, Alabama A&M logged another double steal to move runners to second and third. Allyson Riches regained the lead with a two-run double to deep-center field. With the bases-loaded and two outs, Serena Herbranson dropped down a bunt single to increase the advantage. || AAMU, 5-2
Peyton Fointno logged an RBI on a sacrifice fly.
Ryla Traylor entered the game off the bench and added two hits.
Alabama A&M's Tatianna Roman tallied three hits in four at-bats, scored two runs and recorded two stolen bases.
In the last eight appearances, Traylor's totaled seven hits in 19 at-bats (.368 batting average).
Tennessee State scored its first run in four games, while they snapped a streak of four-consecutive one-hit games.
Tennessee State will host Tennessee Tech this weekend for a three-game series, beginning Saturday at 1:00pm (DH) and wrapping up on Sunday at 1:00pm.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech softball team needed a win to get back on the positive side of things and the Golden Eagle bats came through, collecting seven hits and reaching on three errors and five walks to collect a 5-3 victory on Tuesday afternoon.
The big blast came in the third inning as Savannah Talley hit a three-run dinger, her fifth round-tripper of the season and her 20th, 21st and 23rd RBI of the season.
The Golden Eagles improve to 27-14 on the season as they break a three-game skid.
Tech scored two runs in the top of the first as Sydney Love-Baker collected an RBI, driving Carmen Betts home on a bunt single towards first. With the bases loaded, Sydney Dukes drew a five-pitch walk, pushing Haeli Bryson across.
In the third, Bryson reached on a walk, then a passed ball moved her over to second. Love-Baker singled to right to put runners at the corners. After Talley fouled off the first pitch, she connected on the second, knocking it out of the park for three runs.
Bryson cruised through the first three innings in the circle, allowing just one hit in the opening trio. The fourth had some turbulence however with a hit batter, a single, then a three-run home run to cut Tech’s lead down to 5-3.
Her day ended there, allowing three runs on three hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Tyler Erwin came on in relief and pitched the final four frames, yielding just one hit along the way and striking out three. With Bryson only going three innings to start the game, Erwin was credited with the victory, improving to 10-2 on the season.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday as they travel to Nashville to take on Tennessee State.
