CINCINNATI 81, LINDENWOOD 62
CINCINNATI - The Lindenwood women's basketball team (0-3, 0-0 OVC) dropped a Wednesday matinee with Cincinnati (1-1, 0-0 B12) by a score of 81-62.

Lindenwood and Cincinnati went back and forth early as the game was tied 9-9 midway through the first quarter. Cincinnati went on a quick 10-0 run to grab the lead at 19-9. The Lions responded right back with three quick makes from beyond the arc, two from Ellie Brueggemann and one from Kaylen Evans to cut the deficit to 23-18 after one quarter. In total, Lindenwood shot 45 percent from deep during the opening 10 minutes.

Cincinnati turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter, beginning the middle frame on a 20-8 run which extended their lead to 43-26. Brueggemann settled Lindenwood down by making her fourth three pointer of the opening half on the next possession. The Lions would trail 47-31 after 20 minutes of play. Brueggemann led the Lions with 14 points at the break.

The two teams traded buckets throughout the third quarter with the Lions unable to close the gap. Justis Odom notched six points in the frame, including the last bucket of the period as Lindenwood trailed 63-47 headed to the fourth.

Lindenwood showed some fight early in the fourth and was able to close the gap to 10 points after a Brueggemann layup near the halfway mark of the quarter.  That would be as close as the Lions would get, however with the Bearcats finishing the game on a 9-0 run to pick up the 81-62 victory.

ILLINOIS STATE 90, SIUE 86
NORMAL, Ill.- SIUE women's basketball trailed by as many as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter and cut its deficit to four, but the Redbirds escaped with an 90-86 victory on Wednesday at CEFCU Arena. The Cougars didn't roll over, outscoring the Redbirds 36-27 in the fourth.

SIUE trailed by 11 at the conclusion of the first half, shooting 39 percent (13-33) while going 7-16 from beyond the arc.

Illinois State maintained a double-digit lead for the entirety of the third quarter, but the Cougars flipped a switch in the final quarter, led by 11 points from Sofie Lowis. She concluded the game with 19 and shot 3-7 from deep in the fourth.


SIUE concluded the game 38 percent (30-79) from the field, 13-41 from deep. And 13-20 at the free throw line. The Redbirds shot 48 percent (28-58) while capitalizing on 25 of 36 opportunities at the charity stripe. Illinois State outrebounded the Cougars 53-35 in the game.

Graduate guard KK Rodriguez turned in her second consecutive 30-point game, finishing with a team-high 31. She shot 12-23 and 7-12 from deep, a new career high in three pointers made. Her seven from beyond the arc are tied for second in program history. She also grabbed four rebounds and handed out four assists.

Sophomore Macy Silvey also turned in a double-figure outing, her third straight, finishing the game with 15 points. She collected three steals and grabbed six rebounds, marking the fourth straight game with at least five boards.

Ava Stoller led the Cougars on the glass with seven rebounds, two of which came on the offensive end. She contributed seven points and dished out a team-high seven assists. Halle Smith finished the game with six points.

Illinois State was led by DeAnna Wilson's 23 points. Kate Bullman led the game with 15 rebounds..

CHATTANOOGA 70, TENNESSEE TECH 45
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Wednesday night started as tough as it could have for the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team. Shots didn't fall, turnovers stalled the offense and just nothing went right in the early phase of the game.

As the Golden Eagles were able to get back off their heels and put some momentum together in the second half, the damage was already done as Chattanooga escaped the Eblen Center with a 70-45 victory over Tech.

The Golden Eagles (0-2) will try to bounce back from the contest as they head to Alabama A&M on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Chattanooga scored the first 18 points of the game as Tech missed its first nine shots and finished 1-for-11 from the field in the opening 10 minutes as Yaubryon Chambers' layup with 1:48 left in the stanza was all of the Golden Eagles' scoring.

The visiting Mocs extended their lead with a 22-10 second quarter as Chattanooga shot 14-of-25 in the first half to take a commanding 40-12 lead.

Tech showed it had some fight left in the third quarter, outscoring Chattanooga 20-15 on a 9-for-15 effort from the floor in the period, but the Golden Eagles' shooting cooled back off to 1-for-10 in the fourth as Tech collected 10 of its 13 fourth-quarter points from the free-throw line.

The Golden Eagles were 10-for-10 at the line in the final 10 minutes, finishing 16-of-23. Chattanooga (3-1), however, went 19-for-20 at the stripe. The Mocs also won the battle on the boards with 31 rebounds to Tech's 21.

Like the Ball State game, turnovers plagued the Golden Eagles as Tech had 13 giveaways in the first half, finishing with 19 in the contest.

Chattanooga ended with four players in double-figure scoring as Tech transfer Jada Guinn led the way with 15 points on 6-for-14 shooting. Karsen Murphy added 14 points, while Raven Thompson and Hannah Kohn scored 12 each.

Chambers and Reagan Hurst paced Tech with 12 points, while Reghan Grimes had five rebounds, Cayla Cowart had three assists and Hurst had five steals.

WESTERN ILLINOIS 101, HANNIBAL-LAGRANGE 23
MACOMB, Ill. - In a thrilling and high-scoring match, Western Illinois dominated the court to secure an impressive 101-23 victory over Hannible-LaGrange. From the tip-off, Western Illinois exhibited outstanding offensive prowess, sinking three-pointers and executing seamless fast breaks that left Hannibal-LaGrange behind.

Western Illinois' offense was firing on all cylinders as the Leathernecks started the scoring quickly. After falling behind 4-0, the Leathernecks used a 14-0 run, pulling in front 14-4. WIU kept the foot on the gas pedal as two free throws from Jasmine Nichols and a layup by Kaylen Reed would end the quarter with WIU holding a 16-point advantage, 26-10. 

The Leathernecks did not slow down on the offensive side and slowed the Trojans down on the defensive side. Allowing just a combined six points over the next two quarters, WIU saw themselves ahead 74-16 after three-quarters of play. The Leathernecks would add 27 more points in quarter four as they would reach the 100-point mark, beating Hannibal-LaGrange 101-23

Alissa Dins showcased her versatility with 5 points, three assists, and an impressive nine rebounds. Allie Meadows added 4 points, two assists, and five rebounds to the tally, while Mallory McDermott displayed scoring prowess with 18 points on 7-13 field goals, accompanied by five rebounds.

Raegan McCowan was efficient from the field (6-11 FG) and the free-throw line (3-3 FT), contributing 15 points, one assist, and six rebounds. Addi Brownfield demonstrated all-around play with 6 points, four assists, and seven rebounds, while Carla Flores chipped in with 6 points, three rebounds, and four assists.

Lily Randgaard made her presence felt with 8 points, five rebounds, and three assists, and Kennedy Flanagan added 5 points and four rebounds. Kaylen Reed had an impressive outing with 11 points, six assists, and five rebounds, shooting efficiently at 4-5 from the field and 2-4 from beyond the arc.

Jasmine Nichols emerged as a scoring powerhouse, leading the team with 20 points on an outstanding 8-9 shooting, accompanied by six rebounds. Ainsley Holthaus contributed 3 points to round out the scoring.

Notably, the bench players made a significant impact, outscoring the opponents 53-0 and highlighting the depth of Western Illinois. Fast break points were another area of dominance, with Western Illinois capitalizing on 20 Hannibal LaGrange turnovers to score 23 points compared to their opponents' zero. The rebounding battle was decisively won by WIU, outrebounding their opponents 61-34.
