SAINT LOUIS 14, LINDENWOOD 9
ST. CHARLES, Mo.
- An outstanding offensive output was not enough for Lindenwood baseball (2-11) on Tuesday.  The Lions plated nine runs, but could not hold the Saint Louis Billikens (8-3) at bay, and were defeated 14-9.

Sophomore Matt James (0-3) got the ball to start for Lindenwood and took the loss. Freshman Easton Rakers was a bright spot for the Lions, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two innings, giving up two runs, zero earned, on three hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Senior Greg Sanders led the way offensively for the Lions, going 1-for-5 in the ballgame with a double and two RBI. Freshman Landon Willbrand put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-1 with a double and two RBI. Sophomore Dawson Hokuf also chipped in, going 1-for-1 for Lindenwood with two RBI.

Trailing 5-0, the Lions first put runs on the board in the third inning. Lindenwood scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Sanders.

The Billikens expanded their lead to 7-2 before the Lions offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fourth. Lindenwood brought home a pair, with one run driven in by junior Drake Roberts' single, which tightened the Billikens lead to 7-4.

Saint Louis built their lead to 8-4 before the Lindenwood offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 8-7 in the seventh. The Lions recorded three runs in the frame, two of them coming across on a two-run single off the bat of Hokuf.

The Billikens expanded their lead to 14-7 before the Lindenwood offense got back in action, cutting into that lead in the ninth. The Lions pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Willbrand that brought home junior Tyson Ludwig and sophomore Ambrose Russo, bringing the score to 14-9 in favor of Saint Louis. The Lions were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

#4 LOUISVILLE 11, MOREHEAD STATE 1
LOUISVILLE, Ky.
- The Morehead State Eagles had a tough showing on Tuesday, falling to the No. 4 Louisville Cardinals 11-1 despite the efforts of juniors Jackson Feltner and Colton Becker, who both doubled and finished with two hits a piece. Strikeouts and allowing free bases proved to be the downfall for the Eagles, as MSU batters struck out 15 times while pitchers allowed eight free bases.

Freshman Riley Bradshaw (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Morehead State (9-4). Freshman Ethan Davis was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit.

The Eagles were trailing 8-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Morehead State got on the board after a Ryley Preece singled and scored from first thanks to Feltner's RBI double with two outs. The Eagles were unable to get any closer, as Louisville added three runs to their tally on the way to an 11-1 final.

INDIANA STATE 8, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 3
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.
- Southeast Missouri (4-9) fell in game one of the two game series with Indiana State (3-8) on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 8-3.

Getting the start at second base for the Redhawks, Caleb Rodgers recorded his first collegiate career hit and his first collegiate home run with one swing of the bat.

Rodgers, in the fourth inning, hit a towering fly over the left field fence to trim the Sycamores lead to just 4-3. Rodgers homer would prove to be the final run of the contest for the Redhawks.

RHP Jonah Sarabia (0-1) made his first career start for the Redhawks going 2.2 innings pitched, allowing four runs on four hits. Sarabia recorded two strikeouts over 14 batters.

Right fielder Parker Stinson got the Sycamores on the board in the first inning against Sarabia with an RBI triple that scored Luis Hernandez to give the Sycamores a 1-0 lead.

The Redhawks would get on the board however in the second with a bases loaded walk by Peyton Leeper. SEMO would strand the bases loaded after tying the game.

Sycamores would score three runs in the eighth and another in the ninth as the Sycamores plated five RBI in the game with two outs, to hand the Redhawks the loss on Tuesday night.

RHP Esteban Hernandez had his best outing of the season thus far for the Redhawks throwing 3.1 innings, allowing just two hits. Hernandez record a strikeout over the 13 batters he faced out of the bull pen.

Josh Cameron led the Redhawks offense with two hits (2-4) as he extended his on-base streak to eight games.

Caleb Rodgers finished the day going 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI and his first homerun of the season.

SIUE 5, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS 4
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.
- SIUE baseball erased a 4-0 deficit and came back to defeat SIU Carbondale 5-4 Tuesday at Simmons Complex.

The Cougars have won five in a row and improved to 9-2. It is the best start since the 1990 team, which also started 9-2.

SIUE also is now 5-0 in home games. Tuesday's win marked the first win against SIUC since 1992.

Trailing 4-0, the Cougars scored three times in the sixth inning, taking advantage of two errors in the inning from the Salukis. Brady Bunten drove home the Cougars' first run with a single to left. Ole Arntson picked up an RBI when he reached on an error and slid into first to avoid a tag after the throw pulled Salukis' first baseman Ryan Rodriguez off the bag. Josh Ohl then added an RBI-hit to make it 4-3.

Drew Mize led off the seventh with a walk and as sacrificed to seventh with a bunt by Chase Bloomer. Brennan Orf singled and stole second base. A two-out line drive into left from Arntson gave SIUE the 5-4 lead.

Freshman Garrett Helsel started and worked a season-best five innings. He allowed two runs in the fifth when Cole Christman hit a two-run home run to put SIUC up 2-0.

SIU Carbondale scored a pair of unearned runs in the seventh to go up 4-0. Trent Glidewell gave up a walk and a hit in relief but was hampered by an SIUE error. Tyler DeLong (1-0) came in with the bases loaded in the inning. He allowed a hit but struck out the side. DeLong then finished the game to earn his first win as a Cougar. In four scoreless innings he fanned five hitters.

Ben Riffe (0-1) allowed three SIUE runs in relief and took the loss.

Both teams finished with six hits.

TOLEDO 8, UT MARTIN 3
MARTIN, Tenn.
- – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team led through four frames today but back-to-back big innings by Toledo proved to be the difference in an 8-3 setback at Skyhawk Field.

UT Martin starting pitcher J. Henry Hobson (1-1) breezed through four shutout innings and was one pitch away from a fifth before the Rockets hit a go-ahead three-run home run. The Skyhawks were again one out from throwing up another zero on the scoreboard in the sixth but Toledo scored four runs in the frame.

Hobson’s final line was not a true indicator of how well he pitched as the sophomore from Fort Myers, Fla. went 5.1 innings. Eric Steensma then appeared in relief and finished out the game, throwing 3.1 innings of one-run ball while allowing just two hits.

At the plate, Blaze Bell went 2-for-5 for his fourth multi-hit effort of the young season. Caleb Hobson drew three walks and had an RBI with a run scored while Andrew Fernandez also drove in a run. Will Smith and Cameron Brady each scored one run apiece for UT Martin (3-10).

J. Henry Hobson stranded a runner on third base in the top of the first, inducing an infield popup and groundout after the Rocket baserunner was 90 feet away from scoring.

The Skyhawks saw three batters reach safely in the bottom of the first (Caleb Hobson walk, Fernandez single, Bell single) but could not get on the scoreboard.

J. Henry Hobson needed just seven pitches to retire the side in the second, getting help from his defense with an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play.

UT Martin grabbed a 2-0 lead after the bottom of the second thanks to a patient approach at the plate. Smith was issued a leadoff walk and moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nate Self. The next three Skyhawk batters (Brady, Alec Beaman, Caleb Hobson) each drew walks as Caleb Hobson’s came with the bases loaded to make the score 1-0. Two batters later, Fernandez was pitched around for an RBI walk, plating Brady.

It was three-up, three-down for Toledo in the top of the third as J. Henry Hobson retired the side in order on 14 pitches. J. Henry Hobson followed that with another scoreless frame in the fourth, working around back-to-back singles to start off the inning.

J. Henry Hobson got two quick outs in the fifth before the next three Rocket hitters reached base, culminating in UT Martin’s 3-2 deficit. In the sixth, Toledo connected on a grand slam to go on top by a 7-2 margin.

The Skyhawks nearly got back in it in the bottom of the sixth. Smith led things off with a single before pinch hitter Jonah Wichman drew a walk. Caleb Hobson was then hit by a pitch to load the bases but the Rockets escaped a potential UT Martin rally.

After entering the game in the sixth, Steensma came back out for the seventh and retired the side in order on only 11 pitches. The redshirt junior from Western Springs, Ill. then kept Toledo off the scoreboard in the eighth with a 13-pitch inning, wrapping up the frame with a strikeout.

Following two early outs in the top of the ninth, the Rockets added an insurance run to go ahead 8-2.

The Skyhawks got one run back in the bottom half as a Caleb Hobson leadoff walk led to a run off a Toledo error. Unfortunately, that was all of the offense that UT Martin could muster in the final frame.

LITTLE ROCK 3, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 2
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.
- With the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the ninth inning junior Ben Harmon watched the 3-1 pitch cross through the left-handed batter's box for ball four, breaking the tie and winning the game for Little Rock in walk-off fashion. The win over UCA improves the Trojans record to 6-4 on the season as they take the opening game of the Governor's I-40 Showdown season long series.

Little Rock starter Noah Burkey and Bears starter Cade Fenton took turns tossing up zeros on the scoreboard through the first two and a half innings with just the occasional baserunner. Neither offense was able to get much going in the early innings of the game with the Trojan defense turning two inning-ending double plays in the second and third.

The stalemate was broken in the bottom of the third inning. A hit by pitch of Harmon followed by a double from Alex Seguine scored Harmon all the way from first base. Tyler Williams would then single with two outs to bring in Seguine and the Trojans lead grew to two runs.

Central Arkansas was able to get those two runs back in the top of the fourth with a bases loaded single that tied the game for the Bears. Burkey was able to navigate out of the inning without any more damage by striking out Dylan Cyr and getting a lineout from Jack Angus that was snagged by Nico Baumbach at third base.

Austin Stubber came out of the bullpen in relief of Burkey in the top of the fifth and faced the minimum number of batters through the first two innings of his outing. Central Arkansas had brought a bullpen arm of its own into the game in Oliver Laufman, who was able to keep the Trojan offense in check for the next several innings despite Little Rock threatening with runners in scoring position in two of those innings.

After a single and failed sacrifice bunt in the top of the eighth, Jacob Weatherley came into the game and escaped the inning while keeping the game knotted at two, striking out one batter in the process. Following a scoreless ninth inning from Weatherley the game could either end in heartbreak or walk-off, and the Trojans picked the latter.

The Bears took the initiative in aiding Little Rock to the walk-off victory, walking Skyler Trevino and Jake Wright to begin the inning with an intentional base on balls to Ty Rhoades after that, loading the bases with no outs. Harmon then stepped to the plate and took ball one from Laufman before being replaced by Tate Busey on the bump. Busey worked to a 3-1 count and then delivered the walk-off win to the Trojans via base on balls.

The walk-off win for the Trojans is the first since May 1, 2022, when Little Rock defeated Louisiana Monroe 7-6 at Gary Hogan Field.

Stubber was impressive out of the bullpen in today's game, giving up no runs in 3.1 innings pitched. The senior from Hope, Arkansas allowed just two hits and struck out five in his appearance.

Weatherley earned the win for the Trojans, pitching the final 1.2 innings and giving up no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.

Harmon reached base three times in his four plate appearances being walked, hit by a pitch, and singling. He also scored the opening run for the Trojans as well as bringing in the walk-off run with the walk.

#7 VANDERBILT 12, TENNESSEE TECH 1
NASHVILLE
- An early lead couldn't hold up for the Tennessee Tech baseball team Tuesday evening, as the Golden Eagles fell to No. 7 nationally-ranked Vanderbilt, 12-1, at Hawkins Field in Nashville.

The purple and gold got on the board first in the contest, scoring its lone run in the second inning to take a 1-0 advantage. Shortstop Troy Baunsgard singled down the right-field line with one out and first baseman John Dyer drew a walk to keep the pressure on.

Vanderbilt picked up a second out, looking to close the inning clean, but Tech had other ideas. Left fielder Austin Turner worked an eight-pitch at-bat and then provided the big hit, ripping a single to center field to drive in Baunsgard for the 1-0 lead.

The Commodores answered in the third, plating the tying run with a solo blast of Tech starter Hunter Mann. It marked the only run the Golden Eagle hurler would surrender, finishing the night with three innings of work, one strikeout, and zero walks.

The home squad used the next four innings to do its damage, scoring five times in the fourth to take the lead for good. Vandy tacked on two more markers in the fifth and three more in the sixth before presenting its final run in the seventh for the 12-1 final.

Both Jaxson Pease and Elvin Delic recorded two-thirds of an inning of scoreless work each. Pease allowed just one hit with a strikeout while Delic did not allow a base runner with one punch out.

Turner finished 2-for-3 with the team's lone RBI while four other Golden Eagles picked up hits on the night.

AUSTIN PEAY 10, SOUTHERN INDIANA 6
EVANSVILLE, Ind.
- University of Southern Indiana Baseball was out battled by Austin Peay State University, 10-6, Tuesday evening at the USI Baseball Field. The Screaming Eagles watch their record go to 5-7, while APSU goes to 3-9.

Following a three-run first by Austin Peay, USI rallied to take a 4-3 lead with one in the first and three more in the second. The 4-3 lead would be the only lead of the game for the Eagles.

USI senior centerfielder Evan Kahre (Evansville, Indiana) scored USI's first run on an RBI-single by senior first baseman Lucas McNew (Floyds Knobs, Indiana) to cut the opening deficit to 3-1. Junior rightfielder Drew Taylor (Jeffersonville, Indiana), senior leftfielder Ren Tachioka (Japan), and junior second baseman Alex Archuleta (Evansville, Indiana) followed with three-straight extra base hits (triple, double, triple) to put the Eagles in front, 4-3, in the second.

Tachioka doubled in Taylor, who tripled to open the frame, with the second run, while Archuleta tripled in Tachioka to tie the score, 3-3. Archuleta would score the lead tally on a wild pitch for the brief 4-3 lead.

The Govs responded with six unanswered runs to regain the lead, 9-4, on three in the third and three in the seventh. USI cut the deficit to 9-6 on with two in the seventh on two-run base hit by freshman third baseman/shortstop Caleb Niehaus (Newburgh, Indiana).

Austin Peay added one more tally to seal the game in the eighth and the 10-6 final.

On the mound, USI sophomore right-hander Adam Weihe (Louisville, Kentucky) took the loss for the Eagles. Weihe (0-2) allowed six runs, four earned, on nine hits, while striking out one in 2.1 innings of work.

USI junior lefthander Blake Ciuffetelli (Newburgh, Indiana) followed Weihe to the mound, going 4.1 innings of work and striking out a career-high seven batters.
