IOWA STATE 12, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 0; IOWA STATE 4, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 0
AMES, Iowa -
Big 12 Conference member Iowa State (16-25) swept Southeast Missouri (24-11) in a midweek doubleheader Tuesday. ISU won by scores of 12-0 in five innings and 4-0.

ISU ended SEMO's 10-game winning streak in the first meeting between the teams in 15 years.

Karlie Charles threw a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts to lead ISU in game one.

Four of ISU's first seven hitters reached on a hit by pitch and the Cyclones took advantage to grab Charles a big lead to work with.

Milaysia Ochoa was hit by a pitch and quickly stole second to start the bottom of the first inning. On the next play, Mikayla Ramos was hit by a pitch. Ochoa later scored the first run of the game when Carli Spelhaug grounded out to third.

ISU tacked on five more runs in the second and another four in the third.

Ramos drew a bases loaded walk before Angelina Allen and Spelhaug followed with back-to-back two-RBI hits to push the Cyclones lead to 6-0.

An inning later, ISU used back-to-back one-out doubles and a two-out run scoring single to widen its lead to 10-0 in the third.

The Cyclones kept adding to their lead in the fourth, plating two more runs.

With two outs, Alesia Ranches doubled and scored on a single up the middle by Sarah Tyree. Camille Marin followed with a double of her own and Tyree scored the final run of the contest.

Marisa Davis (8-2) fell to just her second loss of the season. Davis allowed five runs on five hits, walked one and struck out one in two innings.

Delaney Kell then scattered seven hits and gave up seven runs in two innings. Kell also struck out three and walked one.

Charles (4-2) did not allow a walk as only two runners reached base against her in five innings. She faced 17 hitters in the contest.

ISU finished with 12 hits and a total of five Cyclones were hit by a pitch.

Paige Halliwill and Kat Sackett had SEMO's hits. Sackett collected her team-high 12th double in the second inning.

It was then Jaiden Ralston and Spelhaug who combined on a two-hit shutout in the nightcap.
Spelhaug came out of the bullpen to pitch the final three innings, striking out seven and not allowing a hit in that span en route to picking up the save.

Ahead 2-0 after four innings, ISU scored twice more in the bottom of the fifth on a pair of groundout RBIs to complete its second shutout of the day.

Jillian Anderson and Kynzie Wrigley each had a hit.

Paytience Holman (4-6) gave up four runs on six hits, struck out two and walked none in six innings of work.

The Redhawks wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule this season.
