OVC Softball Championship - Day One

The 2023 Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championsip gets underway on Wednesday.

The first two games of the day are single elmination and will feature No. 6 Tennessee State playing No. 7 Lindenwood at 10 a.m. CT followed by No. 5 SIUE facing No. 8 Morehead State at 12:30 p.m. CT.

The entire tournament will be held at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama, and will be streamed on ESPN+.

#6 TENNESSEE STATE 3, #7 LINDENWOOD 2
OXFORD, Ala. -
Sixth-seeded Tennessee State defeated No. 7 Lindenwood, 3-2, in 10 innings, in the first game of the 2023 Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championship. It marked TSU's first ever win in the Conference tourney. The Tigers advance to play Southern Indiana later this afternoon.

Anaya Baker-Rowell led Tennessee State with two hits, two RBI and one run scored. Peyton Fointno also had a pair of hits for the Tigers

Morgan Gersch and Jolie McMinn each had three hits for the Lions.

Caitlyn Manus pitched all 10 innings for TSU to pick up the win. She struck out six and walked just one.

Fifth-seeded SIUE defeated Morehead State, 8-0, in five innings, in the second game of the 2023 OVC Softball Championship. The Cougars advance to play UT Martin later this evening.

SIUE's Sydney Baalman tossed a no hitter, marking the first no hitter in the league tournament since 2011.She struck out seven to pick up her 14th win of the season.

Grace Lueke led the Cougars going a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate and driving in four. Hayley Palm had a pair of hits and two RBI.

Morehead State's Erin Boyle reached base twice once on a walk and once by an error. Emily Williams also reached base for the Eagles drawing a walk.
