KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A late penalty kept 18th-ranked SIUE men's soccer unbeaten through the first four games of the season as the Cougars earned a 1-1 draw Friday on the road at Kansas City.
With the Cougars trailing 1-0 in the 86th minute, Mitchell Murphy made a charge into the Roos' box and worked around Kansas City goalkeeper Stefano Camerlengo, who slid out taking Murphy's legs out, earning the Cougars' the penalty.
Pavel Dashin buried the kick for his first goal as a Cougar to knot the score.
Dashin's goal answered Kansas City's second half goal from Luke Hoelting. Hoelting scored at the back post after a counter attack by the Roos.
Kansas City outshot SIUE 15-7. Both sides had four shots on goal. Sam Gomez made three saves in goal for SIUE. Camerlengo made three saves for the Roos.
