MOREHEAD, Ky. - Led by veteran Irene Wogenstahl, the Morehead State volleyball team bounced back with a sweep of Little Rock Saturday afternoon in Johnson Arena.  

Wogenstahl led all players with 16 kills, tying her season high, hitting for a .438 efficiency and added 8 blocks, including two solos. 

Morehead State, now 6-9 overall and 2-2 in the OVC, won a tight first set 26-24, behind Wogenstahl's five kills and two blocks, in a set featuring 11 ties and four lead changes. 

In set two, the Morehead State attack heated up: the Eagles slammed 15 terminations in 34 attacks for a .353 attack percentage, taking the set 25-20. Set three featured 16 ties and eight lead changes, before the Eagles prevailed 29-27. Overall, the Eagle attack tallied 46 kills on 136 attacks for a .235 percentage. Morehead State was stout at the net, with 12-6 advantage in blocks. 

Grad student Brenna Bommer and sophomore Sydney Sennett combined for 40 assists

Little Rock was paced by Bella Cherry with 10 kills. The Trojans, 8-10 overall and 2-2 in conference play, hit 38 of 126 for a .119 efficiency.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 3, TENNESSEE STATE 1
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. 
- Southeast Missouri Volleyball (7-9, 4-1 OVC) completed the weekend sweep of Tennessee State (4-13, 0-4 OVC) on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 3-1 at Houck Field House. 
 
Redshirt sophomore Ramiri Gardner led the Redhawks offense with a season-best 15 kills on 23 total attacks, with just 1 error, for a career-high .609 hitting-percentage in the match. Gardner was the only Redhawk in double figures with kills. 
 
Lucy Arndt and Abby Johnson chipped in eight kills apiece as the Redhawks totaled 46 kills in the match on a .145 team hitting mark. 
 
The Redhawks dominated in the first set with a .312 hitting-percentage, including 13 kills, and led by as many as seven with a 20-13 lead late in the set following a TSU service error. 
 
SEMO closed the opening frame with a 5-1 run to seal it, 25-16, with kills from Marin Johnson and a block by Avery Torrey and Gardner. TSU hit just .056 in the opening frame after jumping out to a 5-1 lead to begin the match. 
 
The second set was all Redhawks, picking up the 25-21 set two victory to take a 2-0 lead into the third set. 

Tightly contested into the midway point of the set, SEMO built two separate three-point leads at 19-16 and 20-17 after a kill from Torrey and Arndt, respectively. 
 
Following a timeout from TSU, an attack error from the Tigers' Maggie Keenan gave SEMO a 21-17 lead. 
 
Following a kill from Kayla Closset and another TSU timeout, the Redhawks recorded a point with a TSU attack error and a kill from Abby Johnson to set up set point at 24-18. 
 
Three-straight in a row from TSU got the visitor's closer, but a Lucy Arndt kill at 24-21 gave SEMO the two-set lead. 
 
TSU would take the third set, 25-14, with an impressive. 500 hitting-percentage behind 16 kills as a team and trailed 2-1 following the third frame. 
 
In the fourth set, SEMO dominated again as the Redhawks inversed the score to take the set, 25-14, and the match by a final score of 3-1. 
 
Freshman setter Megan Holder recorded 25 assists on the afternoon as she now has double-digit assists in 15-of-16 games this season. Kennedey Johnson chipped in 15 more assists as the Redhawks opened Houck Field House with three-straight victories in 2024.

LINDENWOOD 3, SIUE 2
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. 
- Lindenwood women's volleyball (10-7, 4-1 OVC) picked up their fourth Ohio Valley Conference win of the season in a five set battle over SIUE (6-9, 1-3 OVC) in Edwardsville, Ill. The Lions had four players with over 15 kills each, the first time that has happened this season.

Three-time OVC Freshman of the Week continued her strong freshman season with a career-high 20 kills while hitting .255 and posted two blocks. It marked the eighth time this season Bax has gone over 10 kills and her seventh time in her last eight matches.

Three other Lions posted 15 kills each including Nyah Wilson who had the match-clinching ace in the fifth set. Wilson had a double-double on Saturday which marked her fifth of the season. Rebecca Janke had 15 kills on a team-leading .419 hitting percentage. Ashley Geluck also had 15 kills and three blocks in the win.

Setter Allie Otten powered the Lindenwood offense to 73 kills which marked the third time this season LU has gone for over 70 in a match. Otten also tied her career-high in assists for the second time this season after posting 57. She also added two aces, 17 digs and three solo blocks (career-high).

Defensively, Lindenwood was just three digs shy of breaking the 100 mark. They were led by libero Jessie Seidel with 36 digs which was also a career-high. She passed 2,000 digs the night before. Addy McAleer (14) and Dana Grib (10) also had over 10+ digs.

The first two sets were lopsided as SIUE took the first set by a score of 25-18. Lindenwood responded in the second dominating with a score of 25-16. In the second set, the Lions had a match-high 18 kills while hitting .389 with just four attack errors.

Lindenwood took the third set by a score of 25-21 after trailing 7-1 early. Lindenwood's offense again was efficient in that set hitting .333 with 17 kills and a match low three errors. The Lions also had four blocks in the third.

After dropping the fourth set (25-23), Lindenwood responded with a 15-13 set five victory. Lindenwood trailed 8-5, but went on a 7-1 run to take the lead late. Wilson came in clutch behind the service line late to give Lindenwood their fourth OVC win of the season.
