EVANSVILLE, Ind. - A flood of offense and a relentless attack propelled the Tennessee Tech soccer team to a 4-1 win at Southern Indiana Sunday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles (4-7-4, 4-1-0) claimed their fourth consecutive Ohio Valley Conference victory at Strassweg Field.

The Screaming Eagles (2-8-4, 1-2-2) were quick to make their mark on the match, immediately leaping out to a 1-0 advantage with a marker in the fifth minute of play. USI's Payton Seymour took a cross from Emerson Grafton and just found the touch before Tech's Maggie Conrad could reach the ball and stop the attempt.

The Golden Eagle defense held strong from that point on, limiting the home team to just one more shot the remainder of the half and providing enough time for the Tech offense to get its footing. After about 20 minutes, the purple and gold found its first opening and struck.

In the 25th minute, the Cookeville crew lined up for a corner kick on the right side of USI's portion of the pitch. Lucia Cuadra flicked a rainbow into the center of the box and Claire Palya paired the pass with a perfect header into the lower left corner of the net.

The goal marked the first of the Chattanooga transfer's Tech tenure and provided Cuadra with her fifth assist of the season. From that point on, the floodgates opened for the purple and gold and the offense took off.

Less than three minutes later, in the 28th minute, the Golden Eagles struck again, this time from a pair of skilled touches and some gorgeous footwork by Neve Renwick. Junior forward Katie Toney directed a pass from her noggin over to Cuadra, who directed a long touch pass to Renwick.

The sophomore forward beat the pair of defenders in front of her and smashed a shot past the GK on the near left side for her eighth marker of the season. Toney picked up her second assist of the year while Cuadra snagged her second of the match and OVC-leading sixth of the season.

Far from finished, the Cookeville crew continued to press its way upfield and collect its third goal in 10 minutes. Toney battled with a pair of USI defenders deep on the far right side of the pitch, claiming the ball from a small scrum, and taking it down to the goal line before firing a cross back into the box.

Rookie forward Natalie Howard hauled in the pass and immediately flicked the ball over to a wide-open Cuadra. The graduate transfer split the pipes with a curved approach into the top left corner of the net, past the outstretched hands of a leaping USI goalkeeper.

For Cuadra, it was her fourth point of the match and third goal of the season. Toney picked up her second helper of the day and third of the year while Howard earned her first point of the season.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles did a fine job of keeping the Screaming Eagles from getting anything going on offense. USI attempted just three shots in the second stanza, including one on goal. Conrad, who picked up her fourth win of the season and in a row, made the stop for her lone save of the day.

With under two minutes to play in the match, Tech picked up a nifty little tally to put an exclamation point on the day, with Renwick behind it all. As the Golden Eagles worked on clearing the ball from their zone, Renwick poked the ball away from the last line of USI's pressing defensive line.

The striker chased the ball down and was off to the races, sprinting all the way to the penalty-kick marker in the Southern Indiana box and crushing a no-doubter past a helpless goalkeeper caught in a horrific, one-on-one match-up with the top scorer in the league.

Renwick's ninth tally of the year tied her for the sixth most in a single season in program history. Her 20 points on the year are tied for 10th.

LINDENWOOD 0, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 0
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri Women's Soccer (0-9-2, 0-3-2 OVC) picked up their second result of the season on Sunday afternoon with a 0-0 draw against Lindenwood (7-4-2, 3-0-2 OVC) at Houck Field.
 
A defensive slugfest, the two teams combined for just 10 shots each as the Redhawks held a 6-4 advantage in shots led by midfielder Zoe Houston. 

Houston recorded three shots, with all of them on target, as she was one-of-four Redhawks with a shot in the 90-minutes. Emily Baker, Katelyn Miller, and Justi Nelson each finished with one shot. 
 
SEMO's defense was on point in the contest and did not allow Lindenwood to record a shot on target. Goalkeeper Sophia Elfrinnk recorded the shutout without making a save in the contest. 
 
Midway through the first half, Emily Baker had the closest chance of the contest for the Redhawks. Freshly off the bench, Baker rifled a shot from a considerable distance as LU's Carolin Ritter used her fingertips to tip the ball on to the crossbar. 
 
Ritter finished with a full 90-minutes, making five saves. 
 
Senior forward Katelyn Miller had the final chance as she fired a shot in the 88th minute that was stopped by Ritter prior to the time expiring. 
 
Three Redhawks played the entire 90-minute shift on a hot Sunday afternoon as Elfrink and defenders Alayna Jakul and Ella Baldwin helped keep a clean sheet in the contest,

SIUE 2, EASTERN ILLINOIS 1
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Macie Begley connected in the 88th minute Sunday as SIUE women's soccer defeated Eastern Illinois 2-1 at Korte Stadium.

Begley scored the game winner from 10 yards out after quick passes on the right side of the box from MaryClaire Imig and Savannah DeFini at 87:37. It was Begley's first goal of the season.

The victory was SIUE's first Ohio Valley Conference triumph of the season as the Cougars improved to 2-6-4 overall and 1-2-2 in league play. EIU dropped to 3-6-5 overall and 1-2-2 in the OVC.

SIUE's offense outshot Eastern Illinois 15-8, but it was the Panthers who scored first. Abby Reinl scored from five yards out at 56:46 from Avery Richardson to put the Panthers up 1-0.

The Cougars didn't allow Eastern Illinois to hold the lead for very long.

DeFini scored from six yards out at 58:44 on a pass from Imig. It was her fifth goal of the season and the second of the week.

Abby Haskell earned the win in goal for the Cougars and had four saves. Ella Kratchovil collected six saves for the Panthers.
