OVC Players of the Week
 
PLAYER
Ray’Sean Taylor, G • 6-1, 180, Grad. • Collinsville, Ill. • SIUE
In three victories away from home last week Taylor averaged 21.0 points, 6.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals/game while hitting 46.8 percent (22-of-47) from the field, 41.7 percent (15-of-36) from 3-point range and 4-of-4 at the free throw line. He opened the week with 22 points in a 77-72 win at Indiana State. In that game the graduate student hit 7-of-15 shots (four 3-pointers), dished out six assists and had four rebounds. Taylor then recorded his second career 30-point outing, scoring 30 at Western Michigan. In that game he hit eight 3-pointers, establishing a new SIUE Division I record for trifectas in a game. Taylor also added seven assists, four rebounds and two steals in that 79-60 victory. He closed the week with 11 points, seven assists and five rebounds in a 75-58 win over Canisius. During the week Taylor became SIUE’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made (227). His 21 made 3-pointers on the season ranks second nationally.

Weston, a transfer from Rhode Island averaged 25.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists/game while hitting 60.7 percent (17-of-28) from the field and 77.8 percent (14-of-18) from the line. Weston played all 45 minutes in overtime game versus Howard in the HBCU All-Stars Challenge at a neutral site in Atlanta. He had 26 points and 11 rebounds hitting 8-of-12 shots (2-of-3 3-pointers) and 8-of-11 free throws. With 15 seconds left in regulation, Weston had a steal and was fouled, where he made two free throws to tie the game at 75 and force the overtime period. The junior followed that with 25 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals in a home win over Alabama A&M. He hit 9-of-16 shots (1-of-4 3-pointers) and 6-of-7 free throws in that contest.

Clayton Jackson, G • 6-2, 180, Fr. • St. Louis, Mo. • Lindenwood
Jackson became the second-straight Lindenwood player to earn the award after he averaged 10.7 points and 1.7 rebounds/game last week in three games at the Urban-Bennette MTE in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. The guard hit 12-of-19 field goals (63.2%), 5-of-10 3-pointers (50%) and 3-of-4 free throws (75%) in coming off the bench in each of the three contests. In Sunday’s 75-74 win over Stonehill, he had 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, while adding a season-best three rebounds. He kicked off the week with a season-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting (3-of-5 3-pointers) against New Orleans.

Teddy Washington Jr. (G, Sr.), Southeast Missouri. Averaged 21.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals/game while hitting 50 percent (18-of-36) from the field in two games. Had 25 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals versus Chattanooga.
 
Anias Futrell (G, Sr.), Lindenwood. In three games at Urban-Bennett MTE, tallied 15.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 assist/game while making 14-of-16 (87.5%) free throws. Scored a season-high 24 in victory over Stonehill; made 7-of-7 free throws in that game, including three in the final 14 seconds.
 
Mwani Wilkinson (G, Grad.), Little Rock. Had a team-high 20 points against Arkansas State and added 19 points and eight rebounds in road victory over UTSA. Made nine 3-pointers during the week.
 
Josué Grullon (G, Jr.), UT Martin. Poured in 46 points in two games, hitting 50 percent (15-of-30) from the field and 50 percent (11-of-22) from 3-point range. Had game-high 24 points at North Alabama.
 
Ryan Myers (G, Sr.), Western Illinois. In win over Central Arkansas, had 18 points, including two free throws in final seconds to ice the victory. Averaged 21.0 points for the week.
