CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Teddy Washington, Jr. scored a game-high 28 points and made seven 3-pointers to lead Southeast Missouri (3-4) to an 80-59 win over Kansas City (4-5) Saturday night at the Show Me Center.
SEMO picked up its second home victory behind Washington, Jr.'s season-high.
After KC scored the first basket of the game, SEMO went on a 16-0 run to get an early double-digit lead.
Brendan Terry made a layup on a fast break and Teddy Washington, Jr. followed with a 3-pointer. Terry later added four more points before Braxton Stacker buried a 3-pointer to put the Redhawks ahead, 16-2, with a little under 11 minutes in the first half.
The Roos were cold out of the gate missing 11 of their first 12 shots. KC went scoreless for over eight minutes while SEMO stretched its lead to double figures.
SEMO used another surge, this time 11-0, to run its lead to 21.
Washington, Jr. scored five points, Troy Cole, Jr. added four and Stacker capped that jaunt with a pair of free throws to give the Redhawks a 30-9 advantage with 5:37 remaining.
The Redhawks headed into the intermission with a comfortable 40-21 lead.
KC shot just 24.2 percent (8-of-33) from the field and struggled to 1-of-15 beyond the arc in the game's opening 20 minutes.
SEMO continued to pour it on in the second half.
Terry's two free throws gave the Redhawks their largest lead of the night at 61-35 with 11:36 to go and SEMO never let its margin dip below 19 the rest of the way.
Washington, Jr. made 10-of-16 field goals and hit 7-of-12 threes. He also had five rebounds, two assists and two steals. It was the second 20-point game for Washington, Jr. this year.
Terry followed with 14 points and Cole, Jr. added 13. Both of those totals are season-highs.
SEMO shot 45.5 percent (30-of-66) from the floor and outrebounded the Roos, 39-33.
Anderson Kopp led KC with 27 points.
