LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The home grown freshman, Maria Schuller, gets the nod for her first start of her collegiate career in a loss against Oral Roberts.
Little Rock concedes season-high 5 goals against Oral Roberts after allowing 3 in the first half. Despite the score, the Trojans went back-and-forth with the Golden Eagles in offensive pressure for most of the match, but could not generate the finishing touches on offense. Little Rock showed tremendous heart until the last buzzer.
MOREHEAD STATE 2, MERCYHURST 2
ERIE, Pa. - Recap coming soon.
SOUTHERN INDIANA 2, BELLARMINE 1
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer earned its first victory of the season Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field, winning 2-1 with a second-half comeback against Bellarmine University.
Southern Indiana (1-6-2) and Bellarmine (1-5-1) renewed their old rivalry from when the two schools were at the D-II level in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Sunday's match was the first meeting of the D-I era for both schools, as the two sides have not faced off since 2019.
In the early minutes of Sunday, it looked like USI would strike first. Just over five minutes into the contest, the Screaming Eagles were inside the Knights' six-yard box, merely feet away from the goal. However, the ball bounced off a swarm of players from both sides and was eventually blocked away.
Following a stretch of exchanged opportunities, Bellarmine scored the game's first tally to take a 1-0 lead at 23:22 of the opening half. USI looked to answer near the 30-minute mark when sophomore midfielder Pilar Torres fired a shot that was saved by the Knights' goalkeeper.
USI senior goalkeeper Zoe Lintner, who made her first start of the season on Sunday, came through with a pair of big saves in the latter stages of the first half to keep the match a one-goal difference heading into halftime.
The Eagles came out of the break on the offensive with pressure and making the most out of their first two shot attempts of the second half.
Southern Indiana equalized the contest, 1-1, in the 57th minute. Junior midfielder Emerson Grafton crossed a ball to freshman midfielder Josie Pochocki who flicked it toward sophomore midfielder Greta Ohlwein at the back post. Ohlwein one-timed it into the top side of the netting for her first goal this season.
Nearly two minutes later, Ohlwein received a pass from junior midfielder Peyton Murphy and beat Bellarmine's goalkeeper one-on-one, burying her second goal of the game and giving USI a 2-1 advantage. The two-goal game by Ohlwein was USI's first multi-goal performance since August 2022.
From there, the Screaming Eagles played from in front with energy and confidence, as Bellarmine's frustrations mounted. The USI defense finished the job, holding the Knights to three shots in the final 30 minutes with Lintner snagging another save in the process to preserve Southern Indiana's 2-1 victory.
Shot totals were fairly even in the match. Southern Indiana took nine shots with four on goal, while Bellarmine recorded 10 shots and five on goal.
In addition to two goals scored, Ohlwein led USI with three shots and two on target. Between the posts, Lintner totaled four saves in the win.
Sunday's victory was Head Coach Eric Schoenstein's 75th career win at the helm of the Screaming Eagles and it was USI's first win since October 8, 2023, when the Eagles defeated Lindenwood University. Additionally, USI's first goal on Sunday afternoon snapped a scoreless streak of 339-plus minutes.
DRAKE 2, WESTERN ILLINOIS 1
DES MOINES, Iowa - Western Illinois University women's soccer kicked off their seventh match of the season on Sunday afternoon, taking on Drake. While the Leathernecks were looking for their first point of the season, Drake entered the match without a win, having recently drawn Green Bay one-all on Thursday.
The Bulldogs got a pair of goals in the first period as they peppered the Leatherneck goal with shot attempts. Drake recorded 14 shot attempts in the first 45 minutes, with six of those being on goal as keeper Ariel Bernard tallied four first-half saves. Western made it out of the first period without a shot attempt and lost the corner battle 6-0 in the first.
In the second, it was more of the same for the Leathernecks, as Drake kept firing away at the WIU net, but the Leatherneck defense held strong.
Ten minutes into the second half, senior Alexis Betker broke away in the right half-space and fired a shot from nearly 30 yards out. It soared right into the opposite top corner, an impossible attempt for the keeper to save on just about a perfect shot. Betker's goal was the first of her Leatherneck career, finishing her 2024 debut with 45 minutes played.
Sadly for the Leathernecks, Betker's rocket was the only shot attempt of the match for the squad in purple. Drake's defense was stout to end the match, preventing any build-up play from WIU's side. The two-to-one score held until the final whistle, as Drake picked up their first win of the season, while the Leathernecks ended the non-conference slate without a point.
TENNESSEE TECH 1, FURMAN 1
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Furman scored a goal late in the first half, but the Tennessee Tech women's soccer team was able to come away from Greenville with a 1-1 draw.
Neve Renwick scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season, knotting the game in the 57th minute. At 54:53, the Golden Eagles saw an offside flag end the Paladins' drive toward the Tech net. The Golden Eagles countered with an attack as Sam Schroeffel took a shot that sailed just right of the goal.
On the next attempt, the Golden Eagles (0-6-4) drew a foul in the box as Renwick was pushed down near the goal, prompting a penalty kick – her first try of the season. Her PK try found the back of the net, putting the game all square at one goal each.
Tech was able to pull together three shots on goal against Paladin goalkeepers Addison Corn – who played the first 45 minutes before being lifted in favor of Reese DeJong. The latter keeper ended the game with two saves and the one goal allowed.
Offensively for the Golden Eagles, Renwick led the way with five shots – one on frame – while Katie Toney and Toni Soutuyo each collected an on-goal attempt. Toney had two shots total, while Schroeffel, Lucia Cuadra, Allison Lee and Meredith Nye each recorded a shot in the contest.
Furman (4-4-1) had three shots each from Tara Katz, Shania Diaz, Nieva Gaither and Norah Roller. Jenny Jacobson came off the bench and scored the Paladins' lone goal just 31 seconds before intermission as she came up the right side of the goal and lofted a shot that got through the hands of Tech keeper Maggie Conrad.
Conrad ended the game with four saves, stopping Katz, Diaz, Roller and Julie Galle's attempts on the net.
INDIANA STATE 1, SIUE 0
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE women's soccer outshot its opponent for the second straight contest and fell to Indiana State 1-0 Sunday at Korte Stadium.
SIUE, 1-4-2, has completed its nonconference season and next gets set to welcome UT Martin next Sunday for the beginning of the Ohio Valley Conference portion of the regular season.
Matea Diekema led the Cougars with four shots followed by two each from Macie Begley, Sidney Christopher and Savannah DeFini.
Indiana State improved to 5-2-2 for the season behind an unassisted goal by Emma Famulak at 19:30 of the first half. Her shot hit the upper left of the net while the two teams had a crowded box around SIUE goalkeeper Abby Haskell.
Haskell collected four saves for the Cougars. SIUE's offense kept Sycamores' goalkeeper Maddie Alexander quite busy with eight saves plus one shot that went off the post late in the second half.
FLORIDA ATLANTIC 4, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 0
BOCA RATON, Fla. - Southeast Missouri women's soccer (0-6) fell on Sunday night to Florida Atlantic (1-4-2) by a final score of 4-0 from FAU Soccer Stadium.
Sophia Elfrink tied her single game save record with eight saves during the match. Elfrink made those eight saves while facing 20 shots from the Owls.
The Redhawks had three shots with two of them being on goal compared to the 12 SOGs by FAU. Cayla Koerner recorded the two shots on goal for SEMO with Alayna Jakul recording the other shot.
Elfrink, Jakul, and Kristin Anderson were the three Redhawks to play the full 90 minutes of the game.

The Owls second goal of the match came off of the right foot of Sloane Young into the bottom center of the goal. Young scored her goal off of a pass from Emmy Schleifer.
