CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Little Rock women's basketball team used a major second-half run to give the Trojans their fifth straight victory. The Trojans (8-8, 6-1) defeated Southeast Missouri 67-63, behind Sug Williams' double-double performance.
Williams ended the night with 11 points and 11 rebounds, her third double-double of the season. Faith Lee also had another double-figure night, with 15 points. Emerald Parker chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Holman added 11 points, including a half-court buzzer-beater to end the third quarter.
The Trojans trailed by seven going into halftime but had a quick 8-0 run in the first 2 minutes of the third quarter, cutting the SEMO lead to one.
Little Rock took their first lead of the second half with 5:50 left in the third period thanks to a layup by Parker.
Holman's heave to end the quarter gave the Trojans a four-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes of regulation.
SEMO (4-12, 2-5) had a strong final quarter, with Ainaya Williams draining a jumper in the paint and an a conventional three-point play on a layup by Skylar Barnes. Barnes nailed her free throws cutting the score to 58-56.
After the final media timeout, the Trojans made their move with hoops from Parker, Holman, and Lee.
Despite being out-shot by SEMO, Little Rock forced 21 turnovers and converted those into 19 points. The Trojans out-rebounded the Redhawks 32-29.
Fr. Zoe Best led the Redhawks with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, including 4-of-8 from behind the arc. Best was one of three Redhawks to finish in double figures including Da'Kariya Jackson with 15 points and Skylar Barnes with 11 points.
