CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois had its third different player score a career high over the last three games as the Panthers moved to 5-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 69-56 win over SIUE on Tuesday night at Groniger Arena.
Ella Lune finished with a career high 23 points going 8-of-14 from the floor and 4-of-8 from 3-point range to lead three Panthers in double figures.
The Panthers built a 24-15 lead in the opening quarter shooting 64.3 percent from the field with Macy McGlone scoring seven of her 13 points in the opening ten minutes.
SIUE adjusted its defense to take away McGlone creating room for Lune and Alex Rouse to pick up the offensive chances.
The Cougars trailed by seven points at the end of the third quarter as KK Rodriguez scored in the finals second of the quarter. Rodriguez had 20 points to lead SIUE and finished as the only Cougar in double figures.
EIU opened the fourth quarter with a 9-4 run with Lune scoring five of those nine points to push the Panthers margin to double figures where it remained the rest of the game. EIU shot 60 percent in the final quarter and 50 percent for the game.
Rouse was the final EIU player in double figures ten points as EIU moved to 8-6 overall, 5-0 in the OVC.
SIUE fell to 2-12 overall, 0-5 in the OVC.
