ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Lindenwood women's basketball team (9-4, 1-1 OVC) picked up a 71-36 win over Ottawa on Monday afternoon in Hyland Arena.
It was a slow start for the Lions as the game was tied 9-9 at the halfway point of the opening quarter. Lindenwood finished the frame on a 9-2 run to grab a 19-11 lead after 10 minutes of play. Gracy Wernli drilled a pair of three pointers to give her a team-high six points after one.
Noah Garcia and Alyssa Nielsen began the second quarter with three pointers to give the Lions their largest lead at 25-11. Lindenwood held a comfortable lead throughout the middle frame and led 33-22 at the break.
After Ottawa scored the opening bucket of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 33-24, Lindenwood went on a 20-0 run and made an effort to get to the rim, making all eight of its free throws in the quarter. The Lions also forced 10 turnovers in the frame to gain some separation. Neilsen had seven points in the third to give her 14 for the game.
The Lions were able to close out the game and earn a 71-36 victory. Aalayah Wilson had a team-high seven points in the final frame. Norwood led the team in rebounding with seven, while Nielsen paced the team in scoring with 14.
