MOREHEAD STATE 4, KENNESAW STATE 2

KENNESAW, Ga.
- Freshman Sela Pickford racked up five RBI, but the Morehead State Eagles fell to the Northern Kentucky Norse 18-15 on Saturday. The 33 total runs tied its school record for most in a game. The Eagles defeated Lincoln Memorial at home on April 29, 1993, 31-2, which was the previous record. It was the 11th time in MSU history both teams scored in double figures.

Pickford (0-1) pitched her first career game and took the loss in the circle for Morehead State (0-8).

Pickford, who has hits in nine straight games, went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple in addition to her five RBI for the Eagles. Freshman Maddy Christopher compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Freshman Sophie Collins also helped out for Morehead State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and an RBI.

Coach Megan Griffith was encouraged by the team's progress throughout the afternoon, despite its recent struggles and makeshift lineup.

Trailing 6-0, the Eagles first put runs on the board in the first inning. Morehead State's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a two-run single off the bat of freshman Nyla Doiron.

The Norse expanded their lead to 7-5 before the Eagles offense got back to work, taking the lead in the third. The Morehead State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of Pickford, which brought the Eagles lead to 9-7.

Morehead State's lead had evaporated by the time the fourth inning arrived and turned into a 10-9 Northern Kentucky advantage, when the Eagles evened up the game at 10.

The Eagles scored five runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Pickford, bringing the score to 18-15 in favor of Northern Kentucky. The Eagles were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

LINDENWOOD 5, CHATTANOOGA 4
NORTH ALABAMA 8, LINDENWOOD 0 (5)
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.
- Lindenwood softball (4-4, 0-0 OVC) split day two at the Chattanooga Challenge as they started the day with a win over Chattanooga (2-7, 0-0 SOCON) before falling to North Alabama (9-0, 0-0 ASUN). This marks the fourth straight day of play that the Lions have split their two games on.

Irelynn West was the hero during Lindenwood's 5-4 win over Chattanooga after going 3-3 with three home runs. She becomes just the second Lion in the NCAA era to accomplish that feat (Whitney Wendel - 2021) and first in Division I. In just one game, West tied her season-high for home runs with three which she set back in 2022.

Lindenwood only had four hits in the ball-game but all four were home runs. Besides West's three home runs, Jolie McMinn added one to give the Lions a 5-4 victory over the Mocs. Chattanooga scored four runs on nine hits with two errors.

West and McMinn started the game with back-to-back home runs in the second inning as the Lions took the early 2-0 lead. After UTC answered with a home run of their own in the bottom of the second, West hit her second of the game this time scoring Dallis Darnell as LU took a 4-1 lead.

Chattanooga added two more runs in the third to cut the lead to one before West hit her third and final home run in the top half of the fifth to give the Lions an extra insurance run. The Mocs scored one run in the seventh, but LU captured their fourth win of the season.

Samantha Roulanaitis (W, 1-1) picked up her first career win at Lindenwood after throwing a complete game allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out six Mocs.
