CREIGHTON 6, MOREHEAD STATE 2
KENNESAW, Ga. - Freshman Taikibrea Campbell went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI for the Morehead State Eagles in a 6-2 loss to the Creighton Blue Jays on Sunday.
Freshman Riley Burney (0-4) started and took the loss in the circle for Morehead State (1-9).
MSU finished with just five hits, only the third time this season it recorded fewer than seven. Creighton (7-3) collected 12 hits. The Eagles left eight runners on base, while the Blue Jays stranded nine.
It also saw the end of two streaks: Sela Pickford's 10-game hitting (although the sophomore infielder did draw a first-inning walk to extend her stretch of reaching base safely to 11 consecutive contests) and Kendra Lewis' nine games of reaching base safely. Senior utility player Ilencia Lightbody, who doubled in the sixth, now owns the longest current hitting streak at five games.
The Eagles put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Morehead State got a bases-loaded RBI single from freshman Jordan Donato, scoring Campbell from third base.
The Blue Jays then rallied to score six runs (two in the third and four in the fifth) and take a 6-1 lead before the Eagles got back on the board in the sixth. Morehead State pushed across a run on Campbell's one-out RBI double, which brought the score to 6-2 in favor of the Blue Jays. The Eagles were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
TROY 10, EASTERN ILLINOIS 2 (6)
TROY, Ala. - Troy used a big fifth inning on Sunday as the Trojans beat Eastern Illinois 10-2 to close out play at the Troy Cardinal Classic.
The Trojans took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the second and third innings.

In the fifth Troy loaded the bases and scored its first run as Caiden Oliva was hit by a pitch. A Trojans sacrifice fly pushed across the second run of the inning. Troy then strung together four consecutive singles with the final hit a two-run single by McKinnon Howard. Four of the seven runs in the inning were unearned.
McKenzie Oslanzi (1-4) took the loss for EIU as the Panthers are now 3-7. Kendall Grover led the Panthers offense going 2-for-3 for the third straight game.
