EASTERN ILLINOIS 15, BELLARMINE 8
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Some red-hot bats led the Eastern Illinois baseball team (5-8, 0-0 OVC) to a 15-8 win over Bellarmine (2-13, 0-0 ASUN) in Louisville on Tuesday afternoon.
The EIU offense recorded season-highs in runs scored and hits with 13 total knocks in the contest.
Zak Goodwin had a big day at the plate, going 4-5 with four runs scored including a homer, a double, and four RBIs.
Tyler Castro and Jake Ferguson were also key contributors to the Panthers' offensive onslaught, with Castro going 2-3 with a double and four RBIs, while Ferguson went a perfect 3-3 with a trio of RBIs.
It was a collective effort on the mound with seven EIU pitchers making appearances in the game. Eli Cartwright was awarded the win after giving up zero earned runs through an inning of relief work.
Bryce Riggs got his first start of the season and allowed zero earned runs with four strikeouts through 4.0 innings pitched.
Meanwhile, Lukas Touma and Kole Bradley combined for a scoreless ninth inning in their 2025 debuts.
With two on and two out in the top of the first, Zach Goodwin got the scoring underway with a three-run homer to right center. It was Goodwin's first round-tripper of the season.
The Panthers tacked on two more in the second when a fielding error allowed Tyler Castro and Quade Peters to score before stretching the lead to eight in the third with a two RBI single from Jake Ferguson and a Joey Hagen RBI groundout.
Bellarmine cut the lead in half with four runs in the bottom of the third, with a Eli Watson double bringing in their first two runs before a balk allowed Casey Sorg to score. The Knights added one more run with a Luke Scales RBI single.
However, Bellarmine's newfound momentum could not slow down the EIU bats, and after a Castro two-RBI double and Ferguson sacrifice fly in the fourth, the Panthers had extended their lead to 11-4.
Eastern piled on four more runs in the next inning with an RBI single from Brett Stanley and RBI double from Goodwin before Castro drove in two more runs with a base hit to left field.
The Knights scored an unearned run in their half of the fifth, and after EIU's first scoreless at-bat of the game, BU carved two more runs off their deficit in the sixth as a throwing error allowed Landon Akers to score before a Borden single plated Joey Milto.
The final three innings of the game were quiet with both teams combining for just four hits and zero runs as EIU secured the midweek victory.
OHIO 20, MOREHEAD STATE 17
MOREHEAD, Ky. - A significant breeze blowing out to right spells trouble for pitchers at Sonny Allen Field. Tuesday afternoon, Morehead State and Ohio combined for 37 runs and 35 hits, including 12 home runs, as the Eagles fell to the Bobcats 20-17 in a game that saw four lead changes

PINE BLUFF, Ark. - Little Rock fell behind by six runs in the fourth inning against Arkansas-Pine Bluff Tuesday and couldn't complete the comeback in a 7-4 loss at the Torii Hunter Baseball complex.

After a leadoff inside the park home run by Evansville's Ty Rumsey, the Redhawks responded with five runs in the home first. A one-out walk to Ty Stauss followed by a Mugan infield single brought in Bryce Cannon. Cannon roped a double the opposite way down the left field line to score Stauss.
Warehime hit next and delivered a two-RBI single to left field to score both Mugan and Cannon to give SEMO a 3-1 lead. Corbin then blasted his home run going the opposite way to complete the five-run inning.
Two more runs in the second, four in the fourth, two in the fifth, and four in the sixth powered the Redhawks past the Purple Aces for their first midweek victory of 2025.

SOUTHERN INDIANA 6, AUSTIN PEAY 4
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Baseball posted its first-ever win over Austin Peay State University, 6-4, Tuesday evening at the USI Baseball Field. USI, which snapped a six-game losing streak tonight, is 7-8 overall in 2025, while APSU goes 11-6 this year.
The Screaming Eagles took the early lead, 1-0, with a tally in the second inning. Sophomore second baseman Parker Martin singled to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a single and a flyout before scoring on an RBI single by junior catcher Macajah Wall.
The USI bats continued to stay hot in the third inning, extending the lead to 3-0 on an RBI squeeze play by junior first baseman Kannon Coakley and an RBI single by sophomore rightfielder Cameron Boyd.
The Eagles would increase the lead to 5-0 with two more tallies in the bottom of the sixth. Sophomore leftfielder Evan Zapp knocked in his first RBI of the season with a single to make the score 4-0, while junior shortstop Clayton Slack scored on a wild pitch to up the advantage to 5-0.
APSU would shrink into USI's lead to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the seventh. The Governors would get closer, 5-3, with a run in the eighth before the Eagles re-extended the lead to 6-3 on an RBI single by junior third baseman Patrick McLellan.
The Governors tried to rally in the ninth, getting one more run before freshman right-hander Sage Stout closed the door by stranding the tying runs on base. The save was Stout's first of the season and his first at USI.
On the mound, junior left-hander Jake Porter picked up the win on a staff day for the Eagles. Porter blanked the Governors on four hits and two walks, while striking out two in 3.2 innings of work.
At the plate, junior designated hitter Cole Kitchens continues to have the hot stick, going three-for-four in the victory and is 11-of-15 (.733) in his last four games.
#23 AUBURN 6, UT MARTIN 1
MADISON, Ala. - The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team trailed by just two runs heading into the bottom of the sixth, but ultimately fell 6-1 to No. 23 Auburn at Toyota Field in Madison, Ala.
Tommy Koch (run scored), TJ Grines and Arderrius Townsend collected hits for the Skyhawks. Jalen Fithian drove in a run while Cameron Greene drew a walk.
Zach Wager (1-2) threw 4.1 innings with Jeb Bartle (0.2 innings pitched, two strikeouts), Mason Shropshire (one inning pitched, one strikeout, no walks), Brandon King (0.1 innings pitched) and Austin Gast (1.2 innings pitched, no hits, no runs, no walks, one strikeout) making appearances out of the bullpen.
After a runner reached second in the first inning, Wager left him stranded from three straight flyouts to work a clean frame. The junior dodged trouble in the second with two base runners being sent back to the dugout when a groundout to Greene ended the second.
Auburn (14-3) got the games’ first run in the third but left a runner on base when Wager forced a groundout to Grines. The Tigers were sat down quickly in the bottom of the fourth from an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play.
Auburn added two more runs during the home half of the fifth before Bartle took over and struck out the final two batters of the inning. UT Martin (6-9) put two in scoring position following a wild pitch that helped Koch and Greene advance. The Skyhawks then capitalized off a Fithian RBI sacrifice fly to left center to cut the deficit down to two.
The Tigers added three more runs to their total in the sixth and UT Martin was unable to cut into the deficit further.
ILLINOIS 11, WESTERN ILLINOIS 4
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Western Illinois Baseball put together a strong seventh-inning rally, but it wasn't enough to overcome Illinois in an 11-4 loss on Tuesday night at Illinois Field.
The Leathernecks (4-8) struck first, scoring a run in the opening inning, but Illinois (8-6) responded with two runs in both the second and third innings to take control early. WIU was held scoreless for five straight innings before breaking through in the seventh with a three-run outburst to make things interesting.
Kyree Alexander started off the seventh with a single and got to third on a steal and passed ball. Brock Lummus would get an RBI single scoring Alexander to cut the Fighting Illini deficit to 4-2 with no outs in the seventh. Later in the inning, Paul Osting and Krayton Morse would have back-to-back singles to load the bases with one out. TENNESSEE TECH 13, MIDDLE TENNESSEE 3
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A prodigious power display at the plate and a relentless offense led the Tennessee Tech baseball team to its fifth straight victory Tuesday evening in Murfreesboro, Tenn. as the Golden Eagles (14-4) rolled to a 13-3, run-rule win in seven innings over in-state rival Middle Tennessee (9-6) at Reese Smith Jr Field.
Shortstop Owen Lee turned in his top showing at the plate to date in the affair, belting a whopping three home runs to tie the Tech program record. He became just the 13th Golden Eagles in history to achieve the feat and the first since teammate Nicho Jordan clobbered three at Little Rock on May 14, 2023. Ohio Valley Conference career long ball leader Jason Hinchman accomplished the mission a whopping three times.
Before Lee could play his own personal home run derby, the Tech offense did strike up a lead in the top of the second. A walk and two hit-by-pitches loaded the bags with one out, setting up Kinnick Pusteoska for the first RBI of the day with a sacrifice fly to center field.
In the third, Lee claimed all the confidence he would need for the night with a mammoth jack to right field on a 2-0 count. Two batters later, right fielder Jorsixt Jimenez smashed his own round-tripper, a solo shot to center field for his second of the year a 3-0 Tech lead.
The Blue Raiders threatened in the bottom half, scoring once on a double down the left-field line. The Golden Eagles escaped without further damage and provided the bats enough time to build on their lead.
The levy broke in the fifth as Lee sparked the offense again, blasting a lead-off rocket to right field for his first career multi-home run game. Catcher Mack Whitcomb and Jimenez followed with back-to-back base knocks to the outfield before center fielder Jackson Green loaded the bags with an infield single to third base.
A visit to the bullpen couldn't help the home squad, as first baseman Carter Vrabel ripped a bases-clearing double to left-center field, upgrading the Tech advantage to 7-1. The Blue Raiders' woes continued into the sixth when an error in left field and a balk allowed second baseman Jackson Rooker to reach third to lead off the inning.
After watching two offerings miss their mark, Lee unloaded on the next pitch for a no-doubt, two-run tank, making history with the jack. The onslaught continued into the seventh, this time with patience paying off dividends.
A walk, an error in the outfield, and another walk quickly loaded the bags for the purple and gold with one out, and another pitching change for the Blue Raiders just didn't work out. Whitcomb, Jimenez, and Green each gathered bases-loaded walks to drive in runs, finally prompting one final switch on the hill for Middle Tennessee.
Third baseman Preston Steele grounded out to second, plating one final run to make it a 13-1 Tech lead. The Blue Raiders attempted to rally and keep the game alive in the bottom of the seventh, taking advantage of a Golden Eagle error to score two unearned runs.
Reece McDuffie took control to cover the final out and solidify the win, inducing a lineout to second base. Lucas Vega (3-1) earned his third win of the year after covering 3.2 innings out of the bullpen. The junior scattered three hits and struck out three while allowing just two, unearned runs.
Lee paced the Cookeville crew with a 3-for-4 display with the three dingers, four runs scored, and four RBI. Jimenez finished 2-for-2 with two RBI, three runs, and a team-high three walks. Vrabel plated three while Whitcomb scored twice and drew a pair of walks.
