MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team split a doubleheader with Lindenwood Monday at Bettye Giles Field in Martin. The Skyhawks shut out the Lions in game one, 3-0, but were clipped in game two, 3-2.

In game one, the Skyhawks did all their damage in the fourth inning, beginning with a double to left center from Dylan Scott, which was followed by another double from Alli Robinson. Scott scored in the next at-bat on a bunt single from Kyrsten Brown, while Robinson scored one batter later on a single to the pitcher from Carly Ward. Brown crossed the plate later in the inning to round out UT Martin's scoring in the game on a sacrifice fly by Jordyn Hustey.

Ashtyn Green pitched a complete game four-hit shutout in the opener to move to 6-3 on the season. The game marked her third solo shutout of the season and fourth overall.

In game two, Lindenwood got on the board first in the third inning on an RBI single from Irelynn West. However, in the bottom of the frame, Kennedy Brown singled up the middle and eventually scored on the same play, thanks to a Lindenwood error, to knot the game at one.

The Lions broke the tie in the top of the seventh when Jolie McMinn and Danielle Franz drove in one run each to make it 3-1. In the bottom half of the inning, the Skyhawks cut their deficit in half when Robinson, who began the inning with a triple, scored on a sacrifice fly from Carly Ward. However, the Lions struck out the next batter as they held on for the 3-2 win.

Despite the loss, the Skyhawks remained strong defensively as they negated 10 Lindenwood hits by stranding 11 runners on base in the contest and committed zero errors.
