WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Eastern Illinois matched Big Ten member Purdue for the opening three innings before the Boilermakers broke out in the fourth inning to eventually pick up an 8-0 win over the Panthers.
McKenzie Oslanzi (10-10) was able to work out a jam in the first inning and held Purdue off the board in the opening inning. In the fourth Purdue strung together four straight singles to eventually score seven in the inning.
Sage Scarmardo had the first big hit of the inning driving in two with a single down the third base line. Kylie Franks and Delaney Reefe both added two run doubles for Purdue in the inning.
Morgan Hance had the first hit of the game for the Panthers in the second. In the fifth, Sophia Olman drew a walk with pinch runner Emily Konkel moving to second on a base hit by Abbi Hatton.
Those two hits would be all that EIU generated against Purdue starter Kendall Klochack (7-4). Jordyn Ramos closed the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth.
EIU fell to 19-17 overall. Purdue improved to 21-17.
