OMAHA 7, WESTERN ILLINOIS 1
MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois women's soccer dropped its Sunday matchup to Omaha, 7-1, at Northwest Field.

Omaha struck early with five goals in the opening half to take control. The Mavericks added two more scores after halftime before Western Illinois found the back of the net in the 71st minute. Sophomore Abigail Schilling delivered the Leathernecks' lone goal, finishing off an assist from Simone Thorst to break through the Omaha defense.

Goalkeepers Ariel Bernard and Lillian Johns split time in net, combining for 10 saves against 30 Maverick shots.

Western Illinois finished with four total shots, two on goal, while Omaha held a 30-4 advantage in attempts and an 11-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Leathernecks move to 1-8 on the season and will return to action Thursday, hosting St. Thomas.

CLEVELAND STATE 3, MOREHEAD STATE 0
CLEVELAND, Ohio
- The first meeting against former assistant coach Mark Sappington did not go as planned as the Morehead State women's soccer team fell at Cleveland State 3-0 on Sunday at Krenzler Field.

It was the final non-conference contest of the season for both teams, as well as Senior Day for the Vikings.

Cleveland State (3-3-1) scored in the 36th, 39th and 77th minutes and improved to 2-1-1 at home this fall by extending its undefeated streak to three games. Morehead State (2-7-0) dropped its third straight contest and fifth in a row on the road.

The Eagles had a few chances to get on the scoreboard.

Senior midfielder Kennedy Baquero had a wide-open attempt from the left corner of the goal box at 10:59 that went left of the goal. The Eagles appeared to score off a corner kick at 82:02, but it was waved off because of a foul committed against the goalkeeper. About four minutes earlier, freshman defender Faith Peper won a ball in the air against two defenders, took three dribbles and from 9-yards out, on a 1v1 with the keeper, shot the ball over the crossbar.

MSU finished with 11 shots but just one was officially on goal.

The hosts opened the scoring at 35:35 after stealing the ball on the defensive side of the field. Olivia Cruz then unleashed a shot 18 yards out from the right corner of the penalty box that went inside the upper left post past diving sophomore goalkeeper Claire Cress. Mayra Sesmas was credited with an assist on the play.

At 38:14, Emma Pompo sent a cross from the right corner to the center of the field, where Sesmas headed it to the feet of Ryleigh Alcala, who used her left foot to kick it over the line from a few steps away as Cress dove the other direction.

The Vikings solidified the scoring after True Benshoff took a shot that was saved, but not controlled, by Cress. The ball bounced around where it found Alcala, who passed it to Tanji Sarver. Just off the line, Sarver's first shot hit the crossbar. Then she got the rebound and kicked it back in at the left post virtually standing on the goal line at the left post at 76:11.

Cleveland State finished with a 21-11 edge in shots. Both teams took four corner kicks. CSU had one more foul (10-9) and two more offside calls (3-1). Both also had one yellow card.

Peck led the team with two shots. Sesmas topped all players with six. Cruz added four.

Cress finished with seven saves while falling to 2-7-0. Elyse Broderick had one save and improved to 2-0-0.

The Vikings held the ball for 56 percent of the afternoon and spent 56 percent of that time on the attack. MSU spent 39 percent of its possession holding the ball in the CSU defensive zone.

LINDENWOOD 0, INDIANA STATE 0
TERRE HAUTE, Ind.
- The Lindenwood women's soccer team (3-2-3, 0-0-0 OVC) concluded non-conference play with a 0-0 draw at Indiana State (4-3-3, 0-0-0 MVC) on Sunday afternoon. It was the Lions' fourth shutout performance of the season.

The Lions outshot the Sycamores 11-9 in the first half with two shots on goal, but neither side was able to find the back of the net in the period. Anna Johnson led Lindenwood with three shots (1 SOG) in the half while Caroline Ritter posted three saves.

It was Indiana State on the attack in the second half, with the home team taking 11 shots compared to just four from Lindenwood. However, the Lions defense was up to the task and kept the Sycamores off the scoreboard.

Caroline Ritter made five saves in the half, including a pair of fantastic game-saving efforts late in the match. It was her third eight-save performance and fourth clean sheet of the season.

Anna Johnson led the Lindenwood offense with four total shots in the contest with one shot on goal. Allison Schrumpf added three shots (1 SOG), while Mackenzie Compton and Tasneem Dizdarevic both contributed a pair of shots, including two shots on goal for Dizdarevic.

LITTLE ROCK  3, TULSA 3
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.
-  It was a high-scoring, hard-fought battle between the Trojans and Golden Hurricane as the match ended in a 3-3 draw on Senior Day. In a game with nine yellow cards, multiple injuries and plenty of shots, the teams went back and forth the whole way.

It was a hot, sunny Sunday as Little Rock celebrated its 2025 senior class: Serenity Thake, Amaya Arias, Emma Beattie, Kendra Brown and Peyton Urban.

Little Rock kicked off, but Tulsa took control of the ball early. Midfielders Thake and Arias, along with freshman Emily Nahon, handled the pressure well. But a quick counterattack and pass from Thake set up sophomore Maria Schuller to open the scoring and give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.

The Golden Hurricane's back line left a wide-open lane for Schuller, and Little Rock took advantage again five minutes later. Arias led another counter that sent sophomore Maggie Turner through an open gap, and she dodged the keeper to make it 2-0.

The first half closed soon after Turner's goal but not without trouble. Four yellow cards were issued, and there were two injury stoppages. Freshman Lexi Duarte received a second yellow and was sent off in the 42nd minute after diving on the ball from behind during a Tulsa counterattack.

The second half began with Little Rock down to 10 players, and Tulsa pressed hard. The visitors converted a penalty kick 15 minutes in to cut the deficit to one, then scored a curling shot from outside the box that found the top corner to tie the match.

It looked as if the Trojans might settle for a 2-2 draw, but they struck again. Freshman Clair Silvestro lofted a ball over midfield to Schuller, who dribbled through defenders and scored her second goal. The celebration didn't last long as Tulsa immediately created chance after chance and eventually scored in the bottom corner to make it 3-3.

Urban showed tremendous poise in goal, recording 11 saves to preserve the result.

Five more yellow cards, including one to the Tulsa bench, and two more injury stoppages punctuated a fiery finish.

MILWAUKEE 7, SIUE 0
MILWAUKEE
- SIUE women's soccer closed out the nonconference season Sunday with a 7-0 loss at Milwaukee.

The Cougars, 1-7-1, begin Ohio Valley Conference play next Sunday at Eastern Illinois. Game time is set for 3 p.m. in Charleston, Illinois.

SIUE's final nonconference game resulted in five shots overall with two shots by Claire Nieroda and one each by Audrey Roberts, Sydney Lane and Sissi Loza. Sarah Bozeman collected five saves in goal for SIUE.

Milwaukee picked up two goals each from Emily Petring and Kristina Karlof and improved to 3-4-1.

KANSAS CITY 4, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 3
CAPE GIRRDEAU, Mo.
- Southeast Missouri (0-8-0) dropped a hard-fought battle with Kansas City (5-4) at Houck Stadium on Sunday on 'Donate Life Day' in Cape Girardeau.

Kansas City equalized with a goal by Ashley Koch in the 31st minute, assisted by Emilia Zolesio Fernandez Blanco. Madison Geisler of Southeast recorded four saves during the period, maintaining a 1-1 tie at the end of the first half.

Kansas City's Kaitlyn Edwards scored early in the period at the 50th minute, putting the team ahead 2-1. Southeast responded with two quick goals by Alyssa Schulte and Nelson, leveling the score at 3-3 by the 69th minute. Kansas City secured the victory with a penalty kick goal by Olivia Platt in the 80th minute, finalizing the score at 4-3. Geisler recorded a crucial save at the 57th minute to keep the game within reach. Both teams created numerous opportunities, with Kansas City taking eight corner kicks during the period.

SOUTHERN INDIANA 6, PURDUE FORT WAYNE 1
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer closed out its non-conference schedule in a big way Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field, posting a 6-1 victory over Purdue University Fort Wayne in front of several USI Women's Soccer alumni in attendance for alumni weekend.

USI Women's Soccer wrapped up its non-conference slate with its fourth consecutive result and third win in the last four matches to improve to 3-5-1 heading into the start of Ohio Valley Conference play later this week. Meanwhile, Purdue Fort Wayne dropped to 1-6-1 before the start of the conference season in the Horizon League.

The six goals by the Screaming Eagles on Sunday are a program best since USI made the jump to Division I in 2022 and the most scored in a single game since 2019 when USI scored six against the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Five different Screaming Eagles scored a goal on Sunday. The last time five different Eagles scored a goal in a single game was in the 2020-21 championship spring season in a win against Southwest Baptist University.

Leading the goal-scoring for USI Women's Soccer against the Mastodons was sophomore forward Josie Pochocki. Pochocki not only scored her first career goal but also her first two-goal game. Pochocki recorded the brace and placed all three shot attempts on goal in the contest. Pochocki became the second Screaming Eagle to have a two-goal outing this season, as senior forward Emerson Grafton had a pair of tallies in USI's home win against Valparaiso University on September 4. The last time USI had multiple players with a two-goal performance in the same season was in the 2021 season, with three players achieving the feat that fall.

Speaking of Grafton, the senior found the back of the net for the second consecutive home match on Sunday, pushing her team-leading total to three on the campaign and matching her total from last season. Grafton also had an assist on Sunday.

Freshman forward Brooke Shafer registered her first career goal on a penalty kick in the second half of Sunday's match to become the fourth USI freshman to score this season. Shafer had two shots on goal in three shot attempts. Redshirt sophomore forward Eva Boer notched her second goal of the season. Junior forward Erica Cox capped off the scoring for the Eagles with her first goal in a USI uniform, becoming the 10th different Screaming Eagle to score this season.

USI came out Sunday with energy and on the attack. Pochocki started the scoring with her first goal of the match in the eighth minute off a corner kick. It was the third game this season that USI scored a goal within the first 10 minutes of action.

The Eagles doubled their lead to 2-0 nearly 25 minutes into the game when Grafton headed a ball across the face of the goal and in off another USI corner kick from senior defender Brynn Quick. Purdue Fort Wayne responded with a goal only a couple of minutes later to bring it back to a one-goal lead for USI, 2-1, which remained the score at halftime.

Out of the intermission, it was Pochocki who got USI rolling again early, just like the first half. Pochocki finished a rebound opportunity off a punch-away by the Purdue Fort Wayne goalkeeper to score her second goal of the game and push USI back ahead by two, 3-1, nearly five minutes into the second half. The goal marked the fourth time this season that USI scored within the first 10 minutes after halftime.

The Screaming Eagles kept the control in the second half and went up 4-1 in the 68th minute after Shafer's relentless effort and hustle in the previous five minutes were rewarded with a penalty-kick conversion.

The goal-scoring feast continued in the 76th minute when Boer settled a pass from junior defender Kamryn Bea at her foot for a turnaround rocket into the back of the net to increase USI's lead to four, 5-1. Then the Eagles finished the scoring barrage with the goal by Cox in the 88th minute off another cross, this time off an assist by freshman midfielder Paulina Campos.

Overall, the Screaming Eagles totaled 19 shots with 11 on goal against the Mastodons. The 19 shots marked USI's second-highest shot total this season after tallying 21 against Cleveland State University in August. The 11 shots on goal were a season high in addition to 12 corner kicks on Sunday.

Defensively, USI limited Purdue Fort Wayne to its one goal on five shots and three on target. The five shot attempts were the fewest by a USI opponent this season. Before the Mastodons scored their only goal on Sunday, the Screaming Eagles extended their defensive scoreless streak to 313 consecutive minutes, marking the longest defensive scoring stretch for USI since the D-I jump in 2022.

NORTH ALABAMA 1, TENNESSEE TECH 0
COOKEVILLE, Tenn.
- The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team kept a clean sheet for the second consecutive match Sunday when it fought Southern Illinois to a 0-0 tie Sunday at Saluki Stadium in Carbondale.

Mac Titus shutout the competition for the second consecutive match in goal and ended the night with seven saves, marking her fourth shutout of the season. Titus and the UT Martin defense kept an offense off the board that entered the night averaging two-plus goals per match for the second time in as many outings.

Allie Buchmann and Alexandra Weihs each had two shots in the match, while Peyton Cook and Unni Wolf had one. In all, SIU had 19 total shots and 22 set pieces in the match, none of which they were able to convert into a goal thanks to the stellar Skyhawk defense.

UT MARTIN 0, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS 0
CARBONDALE, Ill.
- A late North Alabama goal proved to be the difference in the Tennessee Tech soccer team's non-conference finale as the Lions scored with just over five minutes left to eek out a 1-0 victory on Tech's Senior Day.

Scoreless in the 85th minute, Alice Bussey split the pipes for her team-leading fourth goal of the year to help push UNA (4-2-2) over the top. A pair of deflections in the box helped give Bussey possession before the graduate student out of Hythe, England drilled one into the back of the net for the tilt's lone goal.

The score was the only one that slipped past Maggie Conrad, who posted six saves on her Senior Day, tied for the second-most in a match this year. North Alabama keeper Madison Vukas tallied five stops en route to the clean sheet.

The Golden Eagles (0-6-4) posted a season-best 15 shots, which included a pair of tries midway through the first half that nearly found the back of the net following a Tech set-piece. A Lucia Cuadra corner in the 23rd minute deflected to Tori Soutuyo, who lined up a try from point-blank range that was smacked away by Vukas. The rebound trickled out to Katie Toney, but Toney's chance from in-close was denied by Vukas to keep the purple and gold off the board.

Toney and Cuadra paced Tech with three shots apiece. Toney's two on-goal were the most by the Golden Eagles. North Alabama notched 17 shots, led by Alice Bussey's five tries and three on-frame.

Prior to the start of the match, the Golden Eagles honored the senior class of Reagan Smiley, Cheyenne McCloud, Krista Eik Hardardottir, Claire Palya, Maggie Conrad, Katie Toney, Addison Johnson, Melina Hamm and Allison Lee.
