MOREHEAD STATE 3-22, UMASS LOWELL 2-10
WINCHESTER, Ky. - Caden Sheridan hit a go-ahead homer in the seventh inning, while four Morehead State pitchers held UMass Lowell to four hits in game one, and the bats went wild in game two with four home runs and 17 hits as MSU swept a doubleheader from the River Hawks 3-2 and 22-10 at George Rogers Clark High School Saturday.
The sweep allowed the Eagles to take the season opening series 2-1.
Six Eagles had multiple hits in game two and seven produced multiple RBI. A trio of Eagles relievers also held UML off the scoreboard for its final four plate appearances after a nine-run fifth inning. MSU scored three runs each in the first three frames and added a six-spot in the fourth and fifth innings. In game one, starter Kamden Hawks struck out five, while Carter Owens and Devin Costa shut down UML to seal the win. Costa earned his first Eagle save.
LINDENWOOD 3-1, ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF 0-2
PINE BLUFF, Ark. - A spectacular pitching performance carried the Lindenwood baseball team (2-1, 0-0 OVC) to a 3-0 win in the first contest of Saturday's doubleheader at Arkansas Pine Bluff (1-2, 0-0 SWAC).
The teams started game two of the doubleheader, but the contest entered a rain delay with LU leading 1-0 with one out and the bases loaded for UAPB in the bottom of the ninth. That game will be resumed on Sunday.
Seth Benes was the headline, throwing seven complete scoreless innings in his Lindenwood debut, registering five strikeouts while allowing just six hits and no walks. Easton Rakers picked up his first save of the season after entering in the ninth inning and retiring the Pine Bluff side in order.
Offensively, Will Geary posted his third multi-hit game of the weekend, coming just a home run short of completing the cycle. Charlie Isom-McCall, Mathew Graf, and William Zareh drove in runs for the Lions.
Lindenwood opened the scoring in the second inning with a Mathew Graf single to right field that scored William Zareh, who had initially reached on a leadoff hit by pitch before advancing into scoring position on a base hit by Filip Sarota. LU loaded the bases following a Kam Edwards walk with two outs but were unable to bring any more runs across home plate in the frame, leaving three runners on base.
Both offenses were kept quiet through the third and fourth innings before Lindenwood extended the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth. Following a Will Geary leadoff triple, Charlie Isom-McCall made the score 2-0 with blooper to right field that found grass for an RBI single. Isom-McCall was subsequently caught stealing at second base before William Zareh added another run with a solo blast to left field for LU's first home run of the 2026 season.
Pine Bluff moved a runner into scoring position with a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh, but Ethan Cantareira made a spectacular diving catch on hard hit ball down the left field line to rob the potential RBI opportunity and keep the shutout intact.
Lindenwood was unable to add any additional runs in the eighth or ninth, but three proved to be plenty as Dillon Haftorson and Easton Rakers finished the job on the mound to complete the shutout.
In game two, runs remained at a premium for both teams in game two, with Lindenwood falling 2-1 on a walk off in the bottom of the ninth. The conclusion of the contest, which began on Saturday morning, was postponed until Sunday due to heavy rain causing rapidly deteriorating field conditions.
Despite the loss, freshman Luke Niemeyer was lights out in his first collegiate start, tossing seven complete shutout innings. He struck out three batters while surrendering just two hits and one base on balls.
Lindenwood only mustered four total hits offensively, with Owen Ralph driving in the Lions' lone run with a double in the fifth inning .
The first hit of the game was a UAPB leadoff double by Dworsky in the bottom the third. However, after moving up to third base on a sacrifice bunt, a well-executed relay by the Lindenwood defense nailed Dworsky at home on a would-be sacrifice fly to left field to end the inning.
LU remained hitless through the fourth, but in the top of the fifth, back-to-back two out doubles by Mathew Graf and Owen Ralph plated the first run of the game to give Lindenwood a 1-0 lead.
LU nearly added a second run in the top of the eighth, but Kam Edwards was thrown out at the plate after trying to take third and home on a wild pitch.
With Lindenwood still leading 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth, Pine Bluff loaded the bases with just one out, but the weather forced the game into a rain delay before it could be concluded. After the game resumed on Sunday morning, UAPB was able to steal a win with a Blake Coleman walk off base hit that drove in a pair of runs.
FLORIDA A&M 7-0, EASTERN ILLINOIS 6-2
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - After winning the opening game of the series yesterday, the Panthers split the doubleheader against Florida A&M. EIU moves to 2-1 on the season, while the Rattlers move to 1-2.
In game one, the Panthers' early offense continued as James Loved doubled to right field, scoring Brett Stanley, who earned a base hit earlier in the 1st inning. Florida A&M wasted little time getting revenge as Kresak singled to right, driving in Brown and Miller, tying the game at 2 apiece.
In the top half of the third, Love recorded his second RBI of the game with another double, scoring Kyree Alexander. The Panthers would add an insurance run later in the inning when Love scored on a wild pitch to take a 4-2 lead.
The Rattlers exploded for three runs in the bottom of the third off Anthony Solis. Florida A&M used a leadoff home run by Crews to take a 5-4 advantage.
The high-scoring affair saw no action until the Rattlers added an insurance run in the 6th when Ryals homered to left. However, the Panthers found life thanks to James Love once again as he smashed a left-field home run, earning two RBIs and scoring Brett Stanley.
Unfortunately, the momentum was shot after Lopez hit a walk-off home run in the 7th inning, winning 7-6.
Unlike game one, the second contest was a low-scoring, pitching duel between Bryce Riggs and Jesus Campa. Riggs pitched a complete game, allowing one hit and striking out six batters.
Zak Goodwin hit a sacrifice fly into left field, allowing Alexander to score the first run of the game for the Panthers.
Riggs dominated, stranding the one hit, which was a double from Perez in the bottom of the third. As the game moved along, both offenses continued to struggle to find a rhythm, as EIU only had 6 in total.
Heading into the final inning, Mike O'Conor led off with a double to left field. O'Conor advanced to third on a Quade Peters ground out. The Rattlers intentionally walked Tyler Castro but made the mistake of pitching to Alexander. Kyree singled, scoring O'Conor for a final insurance run.
The extra run was unneeded because Riggs faced no trouble moving through the final order.
EASTERN MICHIGAN 11, LITTLE ROCK 6
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Little Rock built a five-run lead Saturday afternoon, but Eastern Michigan stormed back with an eight-run seventh inning to claim an 11-6 victory at Gary Hogan Field and even the series.
The teams will meet Sunday in the rubber match, with first pitch set for 1:05 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Brigden Parker delivered a strong outing for the Trojans (1-1), striking out seven while allowing just three hits and one walk over five scoreless innings.
Little Rock gave Parker early support. Nico Baumbach opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second inning, part of a three-hit day. In the fourth, Luis Castillo launched a towering 459-foot blast to left-center field to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Trojans added three more runs in the fifth. Baumbach drove in another run, and Ty Rhoades tripled to plate two, giving Little Rock a 5-0 advantage through five innings.
Eastern Michigan (1-1) had gone 18 consecutive innings without scoring — the final eight innings Friday and the first five on Saturday — before breaking through in the sixth with three runs.
The Eagles then erupted for eight runs in the seventh inning, capitalizing on walks and a grand slam to seize an 11-5 lead. During the two-inning stretch, Little Rock used five relievers out of the bullpen.
Josh Beezley and Trent Jordan combined to strike out four and allow just one hit over the final two innings, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
Angel Cano added an RBI single in the ninth, but the Trojans left two runners stranded to end the game.
SIUE 2, NORTH ALABAMA 1
FLORENCE, Ala. - Four SIUE pitchers combined to limit Noth Alabama to a single run on five hits Saturday as the Cougars picked up their first win of the year, defeating the Lions 2-1 in the finale of a three-game series.
SIUE finished 1-2 in its season-opening series with North Alabama and will open the home season with a Tuesday afternoon contest with Illinois State at Roy E. Lee Field.
Tim Teixeira made his first start of the season and allowed a run over four innings. He struck out three. Wyatt Doak followed, making his collegiate debut, striking out two of the three batters he faced in the fifth inning.
Joseph Martin (1-0) struck out six and allowed a single hit to earn his first win of the season. Easton Harris pitched a perfect ninth innings, striking out one to earn his first save.
After UNA took a 1-0 lead in the third, Gage Franck singled in Ryan Niedzwiedz in the fourth to tie the score. Niedzwiedz singled to drive in Daniel Gierer in the fifth to put the Cougars in front.
Franck and Ethan Willoughby each finished with two hits.
The Cougars outhit the Lions 7-5 in the game.
UT MARTIN 13, BUTLER 11
MARTIN, Tenn. - In a series which has featured three back-and-forth battles, the University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team came out victorious in its second consecutive contest following a six-run eighth inning to push past visiting Big East foe Butler by a 13-11 margin at Skyhawk Field.
The Skyhawks (2-1) and Bulldogs (1-2) have given fans their money's worth through the first three games of the series with 13 lead changes – including three in today's matchup. UT Martin jumped out to an early three-run advantage in the third inning before a big five-run inning by Butler in the seventh inning flipped the momentum. After the visitors pushed their advantage out to as large as three runs on a pair of occasions, the Skyhawks responded with an impressive six-run inning in the bottom half of the eighth inning – recapturing a lead which they would not relinquish.
UT Martin tallied an early season-high 21 hits in the contest – marking the highest individual game total since also notching 21 back on March 21, 2025 against Southeast Missouri. Six different Skyhawks tallied multiple base hits with newcomer Colten Payton leading the way with a 4-for-6 day at the plate – including a pair of doubles. The quartet of TJ Dunsford, Tommy Koch, Amari Conley and Bo Strickland each tallied three hits of their own while combining for seven RBIs in the contest.
Dunsford cranked the Skyhawks first home run of the season, launching a two-run home run in the third inning, while adding four RBIs in the victory. Andrew Davis also racked up three RBIs out of the two-hole while TJ Grines and Bo Strickland each sandwiched the lineup with a pair of RBIs and three combined steals.
The pitching staff was anchored by a strong start by Cason Sharp who limited the Bulldogs to just one earned run over 5.2 innings of work. Gabe Bryant struck out three in his relief appearance while sophomore JP Nunn picked up his first collegiate victory. Wrapping up the notable performances was Trevor Busyn who picked up his first save as a Skyhawk after ending the contest with a strikeout to preserve the 13-11 victory.
SAN FRANCISCO 5-10, WESTERN ILLINOIS 4-6
SAN FRANCISCO - Western Illinois Baseball opened the 2026 season on the road with a three-game series at University of San Francisco at Benedetti Diamond
In Saturday's first game, the Leathernecks fell 5-4 despite outhitting San Francisco 11-10. WIU broke through in the third inning and mounted a strong rally in the seventh, highlighted by a three-run home run from Isaiah Monge that cut the deficit to one. Monge finished with three RBIs, while Liam Bushey collected two hits and Wandel Campana scored twice. Kenneth Perez also added an RBI. The bullpen effort kept the Leathernecks within striking distance, but the late comeback attempt came up just short.
Western Illinois closed the series with a 10-6 loss in the finale of Saturday's doubleheader. The Leathernecks scored in the first inning and added three runs in the eighth as part of a six-run effort. Wandel Campana drove in two runs, while Dante Turgeon and Krayton Morse each recorded an RBI. Liam Bushey reached base four times and scored twice, and Joe Connolly added a hit and stolen base. Despite scoreless relief appearances from JT Fabian and Eric Rawlings, a five-run third inning by San Francisco proved decisive as WIU wrapped up opening weekend play.
#25 TEXAS A&M 23, TENNESSEE TECH 7
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles rallied with 11 hits and scored in five different innings, but an early surge by No. 25 Texas A&M Aggies proved too much in a 23-7 loss Saturday at Blue Bell Park.
The Golden Eagles (0-2) showed resilience at the plate, highlighted by Jorsixt Jimenez's second home run in as many games, but Texas A&M (2-0) used a nine-run first inning to seize control.
After falling behind 9-0 in the opening frame, Tech began to chip away in the third. Connor Crowson and Manny Garza sparked the inning with base hits, and Jackson Rooker delivered a two-run single to left, scoring Crowson and Garza to trim the deficit to 10-2.
Tech added another run in the fourth when Landon Smelser singled and later scored on Nash Crowell's RBI double to left-center, making it 11-3.
Jimenez continued his strong start to the season in the fifth. The junior outfielder launched a solo home run to right field — his second in two games — cutting the margin to 11-4 and providing a spark in the dugout.
In the sixth, the Golden Eagles manufactured another run. Crowson singled and advanced into scoring position before Garza drove him home with an RBI single to center, pulling Tech within 19-5.
The Golden Eagles closed their scoring in the seventh. After Eddie Garza reached and a pitch hit Rooker, Smelser lined an RBI single to score Garza. Jimenez then added a sacrifice fly to bring home Rooker, capping Tech's seven-run effort.
