MIAMI, Fla. - Eastern Illinois took a 2-1 lead in the third inning on Sunday morning but the Panthers could not stop a big Florida A&M inning as EIU lost 9-6 in the final game of the FIU Softball Classic.
Chloe Wamboldt tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third with an RBI double to right field scoring Sophia Olman. Abbi Hatton would drive home Marybeth Dyson later in the inning to put EIU up 2-1.
In the bottom of the third Makayla Register connected for the big hit of the inning as the Ramblers scored seven runs in the inning including a pair of unearned scores. Register hit a three-run homer to put FAMU up 6-2 at the time.

Three FAMU players had two hits to lead the team as they took advantage of seven EIU walks. Sariah Espada picked up the win to move to 1-0.
Dyson and Wamboldt both had two hits at the top of the Panthers order to lead EIU's offense. Karlie McKenzie (0-6) took the loss in the circle. Freshman Grace Lemke tossed 3.1 innings of relief allowing one run.

LONGWOOD 8, LINDENWOOD 6
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Lindenwood Softball team fell on Sunday morning in their final game of the Florida Tournament by a final score of 8-6. Izzy Wilcox picked up right where she left off yesterday by going 2-4 at the plate with a double and a triple and knocking in two RBI, while Kylee Crowder and Dallis Darnell each added another RBI to their season total as well.
The Lions wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first inning, erupting for four runs to take an early 4–0 lead. Crowder ignited the rally with a single through the left side, driving in the game's first run. A wild pitch later allowed Karter Skillman to score and moved Crowder to third. Moments later, Crowder stole home to extend the lead to 3–0 as the Lions seized control early. Izzy Wilcox would then drive in the final run of the inning on an RBI double to left center to make it 4-0 after the top of the first. Longwood responded in the bottom of the second inning by putting up three runs after they loaded the bases, but the Lions roared right back and put up two more runs in the top of the third behind a Wilcox RBI triple and a Dallis Darnell RBI single to right field to push the Lindenwood lead to 6-3 after 2.5 innings played.
The Lancers responded once more in the bottom of the fourth by putting up five runs in the inning behind a grand slam to put Longwood in front 8-6. The Lions would get runners on first base in the sixth and seventh innings with a Madisen Noll single and an Anna Sanders walk, but couldn't get into scoring position over the final two frames as the Lancers hung on to win 8-6.
SOUTHERN INDIANA 2, VILLANOVA 1
BOCA RATON, Fla. - University of Southern Indiana Softball wrapped up play at the Florida Atlantic University Joan Joyce Classic on Sunday morning with a 2-1 walk-off victory over Villanova University.
USI Softball (3-9) walked off the Wildcats (0-15) in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI knock by junior infielder Sydney Long that scored freshman outfielder Katelyn Marx from second base. The walk-off winner came following a tight pitcher's duel through early innings.
The Screaming Eagles scored the game's first tally in the bottom of the first inning when junior outfielder Kate Satkoski drove in Marx from second base on an RBI single to give USI a 1-0 lead.
The 1-0 lead held through five innings, as freshman pitcher Anna Kemp was sharp in the pitching circle. The right-hander struck out six and allowed only one run off four hits in five innings pitched. Kemp ended up with a no-decision in the start.
Kemp ran into a bit of a jam in the top of the sixth with two runners on base before handing the ball over to sophomore pitcher Kylie Witthaus. Villanova scored and tied the game at one by creating motion on the basepaths. Witthaus limited the Wildcats to a single run in the frame, which set up USI for Long's walk-off winner in the bottom of the seventh.
Witthaus (1-3) ended up with her first win of the season after striking out two and surrendering only one hit in two innings of relief.
Villanova's starting pitcher, Kat Gallant (0-6), went the distance in the losing effort, striking out six and giving up two runs – one earned.
Offensively, USI totaled seven hits compared to Villanova's five.
