NORTHERN KENTUCKY 8, EASTERN ILLINOIS 7
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Eastern Illinois scored four runs in the fifth inning, but was unable to keep their late lead, dropping game two of the series 8-8. EIU falls to 4-5, while NKU improves to 6-4.
Both teams struggled offensively early on, scoring zero runs the first three innings. Bryce Riggs got the start, throwing three straight scoreless innings with three strikeouts. The Panthers broke open the 1-1 tie in the 5th inning, scoring four runs.
Kyree Alexander started the top of the 5th with a single through the right side, advancing to second on a Brett Stanley walk. Moments later with bases loaded, Chris Worcester hit a three-RBI double down the left field line, scoring Love, Stanley, and Alexander. The Panthers added the fourth run with Mike O'Conor's double to right center, scoring Worcester. EIU jumped out to a big lead early, but it was not sustained.
NKU narrowed EIU's lead in the 6th inning, driving in three runs to cut the deficit to one. With the momentum shifting, James Geshel pitched in relief to slow the Norse's offense.
With six outs remaining, the Panthers lost their one-run lead. Pierce Bauerle, who hit the walk-off home run yesterday, strikes once more in the 8th inning. Bauerle hit an infield single, scoring Altman and Brazer.
The Panthers were unable to return the favor in the 9th, recording one base hit in the final three outs.
On the mound for EIU, Bryce Riggs threw 90 pitches in 5.1 innings of work. Riggs faced 25 batters, striking out six and allowing three runs. Geshel (1-1) pitched 2.1 innings of relief, allowing five earned runs.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS 3-5, LINDENWOOD 2-1
ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Lindenwood baseball team dropped both contests of their Saturday doubleheader against NIU for their first back-to-back losses of the 2026 season. The LU bats struggled to produce, combining for just three runs across both games.
The Lions fell 3-2 in Saturday's opener despite another outstanding performance from starting pitcher Seth Benes. The offense was unable to provide enough run support, only mustering four hits in the game. Jake Radosevich was responsible for half of those hits, going 2-3 with an RBI.
After a scoreless first two and a half innings, Lindenwood would score the only run of the first seven frames with an Ethan Cantareira solo home run to right field to lead off the bottom of the third.
The teams would combine for zero hits through the next four innings, with Lindenwood starter Seth Benes exiting the game following the seventh inning after allowing just one hit with four strikeouts. Benes has now tossed 21 consecutive shutout innings to begin the 2026 season.
However, with Benes out of the game, NIU was finally able to scratch a pair of runs across the plate in the top of the eighth. Nick Sandee led off the frame with a base hit before moving to second on a passed ball and scoring on a Cole Smith double down the line in left to tie the game. After a ground out advanced Smith to third, a two-out double by Gavin Baldwin put the Huskies in front.
NIU added an insurance run in the top of the ninth, which would prove to be important after Lindenwood managed to plate their second run of the game with a Jake Radosevich RBI single that scored Kam Edwards, who had initially reached base with a leadvoff double.
Unfortunately for the Lions, they were unable to bring around the tying run, resulting in a tough 3-2 loss.
Game two started similarly, with neither team scoring through the first two innings as Lucas Niemeyer recorded four strikeouts in the first two frames, including three in the first inning alone.
Northern would score the game's first run in the top of the third with Charlie Parcell scoring on a Cole Smith RBI double after tripling to lead off the inning. Lindenwood would respond in the bottom of the fourth, scoring one run on a Cade Martinez RBI single that plated Charlie Isom-McCall, who had doubled and stolen third to set up the scoring opportunity.
However, NIU surged back in front with a four-run top of the fifth, with all four runs being unearned thanks to a fielding error to begin the frame. The inning included a pair of sacrifice flies along with a two-run inside the park homer by Marcus Romero, who used his speed to score after driving a ball to the gap in left that got past a diving Kam Edwards and rolled all the way to the wall.
Lindenwood was unable to find a counter through their final five at-bats, only managing a pair of hits following the fourth inning. The Lions put two runners on with one out in the ninth, but never brought the tying run to the plate, falling 5-1.
The Lions finished the game with eight total hits, with Charlie Isom-McCall posting a 3-5 performance to lead LU batters. Kam Edwards also recorded multiple hits with a 2-5 outing.
Lucas Niemeyer and Michael Walsh combined to allow just one earned run on eight hits with nine strikeouts through eight innings, getting four innings of work apiece.
ULM 11, WESTERN ILLINOIS 4
MONROE, La. - Recap coming soon.
MISSOURI STATE 7-9, LITTLE ROCK 5-4
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Little Rock dropped a pair of games Saturday during a doubleheader at Missouri State, falling by scores of 7-5 and 9-4 against a strong opponent at Hammons Field.
Saturday's opener experienced an hour-long rain delay late in the contest, and finally finished more than four hours after its start time of 1:06 pm. That game was almost extended by a ninth-inning rally by the Trojans (6-5) that just fell a little short.
Little Rock fell behind by seven runs in the finale, but battled back to within five and had runners on the corners in the ninth with yet another chance to chip away. Despite falling in all three games against the Bears, Little Rock had chances in the late innings of each to make things interesting.
In game one, Kade Smith hit his second home run of the season and finished with three hits, while Easton Roe had two hits and a pair of RBI. Cade Martin also collected two hits for the Trojans.
The Trojans got a solid relief effort from Josh Beezley, who tossed 3.2 innings of one-hit ball. Nic Bronzini and Isaac Evaniew also gave strong relief outings.
Missouri State posted an early 5-0 lead before the Trojans climbed back to 5-3 in the third. IT was 7-4 after five frames and the Trojans added another in the ninth before leaving the tying runs stranded on base.
In game two, Roe hit his first home run of the year to tie the game early, while Nolan Freund had his first multi-hit game. Martin and Jerdy Lopez each drove in a run.
The Bears opened the scoring in the first inning, and Roe's homer down the left field line tied the game in the third. The hosts added on to make it 9-2 after five frames before the Trojans put together some late offense.
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 10-6, MIAMI (OHIO) 2-14
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (5-7) split a doubleheader against Miami (OH) (8-3) on Saturday at Capaha Field, winning the first game 10-2 before falling in the second game 14-6. In the opener, the Redhawks showcased a powerful offense, tallying 12 hits, including two home runs, while limiting Miami to seven hits and one home run.
The Redhawks opened the scoring in Game 1 with Cal Sullivan doubling to left center and later scoring on a double by Dakota Joggerst in the bottom of the first inning, giving the home team a 1-0 lead after one inning. Miami (OH) managed to score in the second inning when Marc Dierks, after being hit by a pitch, advanced to third on an error and scored on a wild pitch. Southeast responded strongly, starting with a triple by Tank Sims, followed by Carson Schrack driving in Sims with a double. A groundout by Demitri Shakotko brought Schrack home, and Caleb Klein capped the inning with a solo home run to left field, leading 4-1 after two innings.
In the fifth inning, the Redhawks extended their lead when Joe Hall singled and was driven home by Joggerst's single. With the bases loaded, Sims walked to score another run, and Logan Yule's single through the right side brought in two more runs, increasing the lead to 7-1. Although Miami added a run in the sixth with a solo homer by Evan Appelwick, Southeast Missouri answered with a solo home run from Hall, maintaining an 8-2 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, the Redhawks added two more runs when Ryan Lopetegui, pinch hitting for Shakotko, doubled to right field, driving in Sims and Brooks Kettering, securing the victory with a final score of 10-2.
The Redhawks entered Game 2 looking to sweep but fell short, ultimately losing 14-6. The Redhawks tallied 10 hits, including five doubles, but it wasn't enough to overcome Miami's offensive firepower.
Miami took an early lead in the second inning with a two-run homer by To Harrison, followed by a three-run shot from Kee Proctor, putting the Redhawks behind 6-0 by the end of the second. The Redhawks responded in the third inning, scoring four runs with Caleb Klein's RBI single and Cal Sullivan's RBI double, closing the gap to 9-4. However, Miami added more runs, extending their lead with a solo homer from Harrison in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth, leading to a score of 12-4.
SEMO scored again in the seventh inning as Sullivan hit an RBI double, but Miami maintained a commanding lead at 13-5 going into the eighth. In the ninth inning, Klein reached on an error and later scored on Joe Hall's RBI double, but Miami secured the 14-6 victory.

Both teams went back and forth at the plate and after a Payton RBI single and Dunsford RBI single, UT Martin trailed by just one headed to the fifth.
