Lindenwood receives two goals and an assist from junior Mackenzie Compton, leading to a 3-1 road win at Evansville on Thursday evening. UT Martin earned a draw to remain unbeaten, moving to 1-0-4. The day produced two more results with ties by Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.
 

MURRAY, Ky. - A Murray State equalizer in the 87th minute sent the University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team home from Tuesday's match in Murray with its fourth draw of the season. At 1-0-4, the draw marks the first time in program history that the Skyhawks have been unbeaten through the first five matches of the season.

The Skyhawks were first on the board when a slow roller from Daksha Sutharshan crept past the Racer goalkeeper in the 44th minute to give UT Martin the lead. Out of the half, Peyton Cook increased the Skyhawk lead to 2-0 when she put one in the top left corner of the net from close range in the 51st minute.

However, less than a minute later, Reagan Tate answered for Murray State to cut the lead in half. Just when it looked like the Skyhawks would leave Murray with a win, Breece Bass equalized for the Racers in the 87th minute.

The Skyhawks outshot the Racers in the contest with 14 total and eight on target, while Murray State had eight total with five on target. Mac Titus finished up her 90 minutes between the posts with three saves.


EASTERN ILLINOIS 0, INDIANA STATE 0
CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois and Indiana State played to a fifth straight tie in their regional women's soccer series as the Panthers and Sycamores played to a scoreless draw on Thursday afternoon at Lakeside Field.

It was the third shutout of the season for Eastern Illinois as the Panthers moved to 1-1-2.   EIU goalkeeper Ella Kratochvil turned away four Indiana State shots on goal for her third clean sheet this season and 17th of her career.

Indiana State moved to 3-1-1 on the season.  Sofie Zoega Hansen turned away three EIU shots on goal.

The Panthers shots on goal in the match came from Amelia Mundo, Casey Kittridge and Alex Tetteh.


EASTERN KENTUCKY 1, MOREHEAD STATE 0
RICHMOND, Ky. - Morehead State Eagles keeper Allie Lammers recorded a career high in saves (nine), but the Eagles ultimately fell to Eastern Kentucky at EKU Soccer Field on Thursday with a final score of 1-0.

The Eagles kicked off today on the defensive side for a major part of the first half. The Colonels controlled the ball for 60% of the first half, forcing the ball into the MSU's defensive side of the field for 64% of the time.

The Colonels would find the back of the net quickly, capitalizing on an Eagle turnover as Avery May delivered a great setup pass to Lauren Link, who found herself with a wide-open shot and slipped it past Lammers, putting EKU up 1-0.

Not long after, sophomore Faith Peper came charging up the field before being challenged by EKU goalkeeper Jordan LeVasseur. Peper's shot sailed just wide right, narrowly missing one of MSU's best opportunities of the contest.

Eastern Kentucky fired 17 shots in the first half, eight on target, and rolled into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The second half was very similar, however the Eagles limited Eastern Kentucky to just eight shots in the second half, compared to their four.

Eastern Kentucky would hold on to win 1-0 following a 25-shot, 10-on-goal performance from the Colonels. Morehead State finished with seven shots, including two on goal, both of which were saved by LeVasseur.

Allie Lammers was a bright spot for the Eagles. Lammers recorded nine saves on the contest, posting a new career high.

Lammers' nine saves was the most by an Eagle since Claire Cress did it in the season opener against Marshall last season. 

Eastern Kentucky also led in corner kicks, topping the Eagles 6-1.

Morehead State falls to 2-3 on the season, while Eastern Kentucky won its 16th straight home game, improving to 3-1.


SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 0, MISSOURI STATE 0
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University (1-1-1, 0-0-0) played to a scoreless draw against Missouri State University (1-2-1, 0-0-0) on Thursday at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium. The Redhawks' goalkeeper recorded five saves to maintain the shutout.

The match between the Redhawks (1-1-1) and the Bears (1-2-1) began with both teams testing the waters early in the first half. SEMO saw a notable attempt from Jasmine Barney at the 6:40 mark, but her shot was saved. The Redhawks' defensive efforts were highlighted by Natalie Allison, who made crucial saves, including one against Maggie O'Keefe at 7:23. Despite the back-and-forth action, neither team could break the deadlock, ending the first half scoreless.

The Redhawks have yet to allow a goal int he first half of any game this year.

In the second half, Missouri State had a golden opportunity in the 66th minute when the Bears coach challenged a foul in the box with got overturned and awarded Missouri State with a penalty kick. The attempt went over the bar and the game remained scoreless. Despite multiple offensive efforts, including attempts by Barney and Alessia Petkovski, Southeast Missouri could not find the back of the net. The half concluded with the score remaining tied at 0-0, and the match ended with a final score of 0-0.

Natalie Allison earned her second clean sheet of the season.


LINDENWOOD 3, EVANSVILLE 1
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Lindenwood women's soccer team (2-3-0) got back in the win column with a 3-1 victory at Evansville (1-1-1) on Thursday evening. Mackenzie Compton had a big night for the Lions, registering five points with two goals and an assist.

Compton scored her first goal in the eleventh minute, controlling the ball on the right side of the box before shaking the Evansville defense and delivering a strike to the top left corner to put LU up 1-0.

The Purple Aces would tie the game in the 59th minute with a Lily Kytasaari goal, but the Lions regained the lead in the 63rd, with Tasneem Dizdarevic flicking a ball toward the far post for Compton, who used her body to guide the ball across the goal line for her second score of the night.

Lindenwood would capitalize on their momentum less than 30 seconds later, with Maddy Vasiloff finding enough room in the box to loop the ball over a leaping Evansville goalkeeper and just under the cross bar for a score.


SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 5, WESTERN ILLINOIS 0
BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Western Illinois women's soccer team continued its non-conference schedule Thursday night, taking on South Dakota State at Fishback Soccer Park. The Leathernecks battled throughout the 90 minutes but were unable to overcome an early Jackrabbit advantage, falling 5-0.

South Dakota State applied pressure early, recording a pair of shots and earning two corner kicks before breaking through in the 17th minute.

Katelyn Beulke opened the scoring at the 16:45 mark, finishing an opportunity set up by Hannah Langstaff to give the Jackrabbits an early 1-0 advantage. The Leathernecks continued to battle and generated their first shot on goal in the 31st minute when Abigail Schilling placed an attempt toward the bottom center of the net, but South Dakota State goalkeeper Leah Bacon made the save.

The Jackrabbits added to their lead late in the first half as Xehlia Salanoa found the back of the net in the 39th minute. Deizha Lyn Jacinto and Emily Krings were credited with assists on the goal, sending South Dakota State into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.

Western Illinois made several changes coming out of the halftime break, including bringing Lillian Johns into goal. Johns was immediately called into action, making a save on a shot from Jenna Maloy less than two minutes into the second half.

The Leatherneck defense continued to work through the South Dakota State attack during the opening portion of the second half, but the Jackrabbits extended their lead in the 55th minute. Maloy scored off assists from Langstaff and Mia Bosch, giving SDSU a 3-0 advantage.

Johns continued to make stops for Western Illinois as the second half progressed, including saves on attempts from Bosch and Brianna Finnegan.

Western Illinois looked to create opportunities of its own in the second half, with Nelly Beliveau recording a shot in the 71st minute. The Leathernecks continued to rotate their lineup throughout the match as several players saw action.

South Dakota State added two late goals to round out the scoring. Krings scored in the 83rd minute off assists from Abbi Gibbs and Finnegan before Finnegan added the final goal in the 87th minute, finishing a chance created by MaKynlie Cade.

Johns finished the second half with four saves after entering the match at halftime, while Schilling recorded Western Illinois' lone shot on goal of the contest.
