ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Lindenwood women's soccer team (4-4-1) prevailed 3-2 against St. Thomas (1-5-1) in a sweltering midday match at Hunter Stadium on Thursday. The contest featured a total of four penalty kick conversions, including all three of the Lions' goals.

Lindenwood set the pace early on, controlling the ball and taking four shots – including three on goal – through the contest's first 14 minutes compared to just one attempt for St. Thomas.

The Lions' early aggression would pay off in the 15th minute as the Tommies were called for a handball in the box following a video review, allowing Sami Roggenkamp to convert from the penalty spot to give Lindenwood a 1-0 lead.

The Lions appeared to have scored another goal moments later, but the score was disallowed following another video review, with official determining that an LU foul had been committed prior to the shot.

The decision proved crucial, with an errant pass in the 30th minute leading to St. Thomas' Ella O'Keef getting a shot at an empty net, which she calmly rolled inside the right post to tie the game.

Lindenwood kept the pressure on and, following another video review, they were rewarded with another penalty kick in the 44th minute after Avery Thebeau was taken down inside the box. This time it was Allison Schrumpf stepping to the spot and burying the ball into the back of the net to make the score 2-1.

However, the lead was short lived as the Lions were called for a handball in the box with just 17 seconds remaining in the half, allowing the Tommies to tie the game with a penalty kick of their own.

The game remained tied until the 78th minute, when Sami Roggenkamp went down inside the box, drawing yet another whistle and point to the penalty spot by the head referee. St. Thomas appealed the call, but following a video review, the penalty was upheld and Roggenkamp finished the job with her second PK conversion of the match give Lindenwood a late lead.

This time, the Lions were able to prevent a response from the Tommies and protected their lead to the final whistle to secure their second consecutive win.

MOREHEAD STATE 1, ALABAMA A&M 0
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Ashton Lynam scored the game winning goal in the 78th minute to help Morehead State take down Alabama A&M 1-0 in Huntsville, Ala., Thursday afternoon at the AAMU Soccer Field.

Morehead State and Alabama A&M kicked off at 2:00 P.M. ET. with field temperatures up around 105 degrees. 

The Eagles controlled the tempo for much of the first half, forcing the ball into the Bulldogs defensive side of the field 69% of the time.

MSU senior Hannah Burke recorded two shots on goal within the first 15 minutes of the contest, one saved by the Bulldogs keeper Adriana Durango, and the other credited as a team save,

Morehead State held Alabama A&M in check offensively for the entire first half, only allowing one shot in the 36th minute which was saved by the Eagle keeper, Allie Lammers. 

Sophomore Hailey Repreza had a big opportunity to score in the 43rd minute, just before halftime, when her free kick was tipped over the crossbar by Durango, keeping the score tied 0-0 heading into the break.

Coming out of halftime, the tempo remained the same, a few shots here and there but none of which found the back of the net. 

The game finally tilted in the 78th minute when Eagle sophomore Faith Peper played a left-footed cross along the ground into the six-yard box, where junior Ashton Lynam was waiting at the back post to tap it in and give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Lynam scored her first goal as an Eagle and Peper recorded her first career assist. 

Lynam is now the 10th different goal scorer for the Eagles this season, marking the first time since 2023 that Morehead State has had 10 or more different goal scorers in a season.

Following the goal, the Eagles were commended by Cox for playing it into the corner and controlling the tempo until the clock eventually ran out, giving Morehead State its first road victory of the season, and the first road win since 11/3/24, ending a 14-game road winless stretch.

In its entirety, MSU led in shots, 12-4, and corner kicks, 6-2. Alabama A&M finished with six saves, compared to three for the Eagles. With the victory, Morehead State improves to 5-5 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 1-4-2.

The hosts finished with 7 fouls, to a season-low three for the Blue and Gold. Both teams were flagged for being offside twice. Four yellow cards were issued in the contest, three of which were assessed to AAMU.

Four Eagles had two shots to top the visitors. The Bulldogs' four shots came from different individuals.

MSU notched its fifth non-conference win of the season, marking the program's most since 2014 and its highest total since 2000.

SOUTHERN INDIANA 1, DEPAUL 1
CHICAGO - University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer wrapped up its four-game road stretch with a 1-1 draw at DePaul University on Thursday afternoon.
 
USI Women's Soccer (1-6-3) posted its first result in its first-ever game against a Big East Conference opponent. The Screaming Eagles grabbed the lead in the 51st minute before DePaul (3-2-3) scored an equalizer with under two minutes to go.
 
Freshman midfielder Shea Krakowski scored the second-half tally for the Screaming Eagles, registering her first career goal. Krakowski became the third freshman to score this season.
 
USI Women's Soccer fired seven shots and four on goal, while DePaul had 12 attempts but only five shots on goal.
 
The first 45 minutes on Thursday were a scoreless battle, as USI's defense turned away DePaul's attack and limited the Blue Demons to only one quality chance. The Screaming Eagles' best looks in the first half came early when freshman forward Liza Anderson charged forward on the dribble for a shot, and later when senior forward Eva Boer took a shot on goal that was saved. The two sides combined for eight shots in the opening half.
 
Krakowski's goal in the early minutes of the second half to put USI Women's Soccer up 1-0 came after a strong push by the Screaming Eagles into the attacking half that led to a throw-in. Krakowski headed the ball into the goal on assists from Boer and sophomore defender Anna Depenbrock, who initiated the play with the throw-in. The scoring play gave Boer her second assist of the season, a team high, and it was Depenbrock's first helper of the season.
 
USI protected its one-goal advantage and kept creating chances late into the second half. With five minutes remaining, the Screaming Eagles won possession and moved toward the net to score another tally. However, a VAR review disallowed the potential second goal, keeping USI's lead at 1-0. Nearly four minutes later, with under two minutes left, DePaul scored the tying goal on a ricochet in the box to make it 1-1.

WESTERN KENTUCKY 4, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 1
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Southeast Missouri lost to WKU 4-1 on Thursday. The Redhawks were limited to three shots and one shot on goal while facing 23 shots, including 11 on frame.

That left Madison Geisler with seven saves over 90 minutes. Southeast Missouri also defended extended WKU sequences, including a late stretch with six shots and two corner kicks that did not lead to another goal.

The Redhawks spent the first half defending WKU pressure, with Madison Geisler making two saves while WKU scored in the ninth, 22nd and 34th minutes. Southeast Missouri was held without a recorded shot and committed three fouls during a late first-half stretch after WKU's second goal. The Redhawks went into halftime trailing 3-0.

Southeast Missouri got on the board late in the second half when Riley Henderson scored off Chloe Ouimet's assist at 82:57, moving the score to 4-1. Earlier, Olivia Klinkhardt hit the top woodwork after a SEMO corner, and WKU later pushed the margin to 4-0 in the 66th minute. Madison Geisler made three saves in the final five minutes as the Redhawks finished the match with a 4-1 loss.
