EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Southeast Missouri volleyball defeated Evansville 3-1 (25-17, 25-19, 17-25, 25-17) on Tuesday. SEMO finished with 53 kills, a .297 hitting percentage and eight service aces, while the Aces had 46 kills, hit .233 and served four aces.

With the win head coach Julie Yankus reached 250 wins for her career. During the match, senior outside hitter Lucy Arndt recorded her 1,000th career dig.

Southeast Missouri answered an Aces 12-11 lead by moving in front 13-12 and building a 16-13 edge in the first set. After the Aces got within 17-16, Southeast Missouri scored eight of the final nine points, closing the set with three straight service aces from Arndt for a 25-17 win.

Southeast Missouri created the separation in the second set with middle blocker Katarina Miscevic serving, who made her SEMO debut, by winning six straight points after the Aces had cut the score to 14-11 that pushed the lead to 21-11. The stretch included two service aces and two blocks, and the Redhawks finished the set 25-19 after the Aces closed the margin late.

Southeast Missouri spent the third set working back from an immediate 5-0 Aces start, with the first SEMO point coming on a service error after three Aces kills and two blocked attack errors. Southeast Missouri later had brief two-point pushes to reach 10-15, 12-17 and 14-19, but the Aces maintained the lead and finished the set 25-17.

The Redhawks broke open the fourth set by turning an 18-14 lead into a 22-14 advantage with four straight service points, including two aces and two kills. Earlier, after the Aces moved ahead 5-4, Southeast Missouri answered to lead 9-6 and stayed in front before closing the set 25-17.

Arndt led SEMO with 15 kills and added 10 digs for a double-double and freshman Paige Smith made her first collegiate start and racked up 11 kills and three blocks. Marin Johnson added eight kills and Alaina Lester put down seven kills. Setter Ellie Burns also got in on the offensive explosion with four kills.
