ERIE, PA. - The Morehead State volleyball team wrapped up a successful weekend with a 3-1 (25-19, 28-26, 19-25, 25-14) victory over Sienna Saturday in the Mercyhurst Invitational Tournament in the Mercyhurst Athletic Center in Erie, Pa.
 
Morehead State (4-2) was led by senior Hollan Everett with 19 kills, posting an efficient .364 hitting percentage. Everett added two blocks including one block solo, the 42nd of her career.
 
Freshman Ella Warrick posted the fourth double-double of the season with a career-high 16 kills and 10 digs. She added three aces, sharing match honors with freshman setter Josie Certa.  

Senior Amelia Nott added 12 kills posting a sparkling .550 hitting percentage. Nott also added three blocks, including one block solo.
 
The match opened closely contested. Sienna used a three-point run to gain some separation from the Eagles 11-7. Morehead State responded with a nine-point outburst led by Everett and Nott with three kills apiece to surge ahead 17-13. The Eagles closed out the set outscoring the Saints 4-1 highlighted by Everett's sixth kill of the set and three kills by Warrick.  Morehead State posted a .333 hitting percentage in the opening frame and held Siena to a .138 hitting percentage.
 
Morehead State prevailed 28-26 in a wild second set that saw the Eagles run off the first five points in the frame and then Siena take the lead with a seven-point run to go to the technical timeout ahead 15-12. Later the Saints got a 3-0 run to lead 19-15. Morehead State clawed back into the set and evened the score at 22-22. The teams traded points and the Eagles held off a set point at 23 24. With the scored tied at 26-26, Nott recorded a kill and Warrick clinched the frame with her 10th kill of the match.
 
Morehead State got off to a fast start in the third set: the Eagles grabbed an early 4-1 lead and stretched their advantage to 8-2 with a 4-0 run highlighted by an ace from Certa. Another 4-1 run, this one highlighted by a block solo by Everett, took the Eagles into the set break with a 15-8 lead. Siena surged back with a five-point run to close to within 15-13, took its first lead of the set at 17-16, and was the first to 20 points, a 12-2 run. The Saints outscored the Eagles 5-1 to seal the set and hold off the Eagle sweep.
 
The Eagles got out to a quick 8-2 to begin the fourth set. An 11-2 spurt by the Eagles, highlighted by three kills and a service ace by Warrick, put Morehead State first to 20 at 20-8.
 
Siena (2-4) was paced by Mary Claire Deacy with 13 kills on a .312 hitting percentage. Brianna Miller added nine kills for the Saints.

NORTHERN ARIZONA 3, WESTERN ILLINOIS 2
BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Western Illinois volleyball team was unable to come away with a win against Northern Arizona, although the game did go to 5 sets.

The first set was a very competitive one, with the teams trading points throughout and each team holding multiple leads, but an 8-1 run by Northern Arizona during the middle of the set led to the ultimate finish of 19-25 in favor of the Lumberjacks.

The Leathernecks started out the second set down 1-0, before scoring 5 straight points. This built momentum for the team, and led to them not trailing the rest of the set, ultimately winning the set 25-22.

The third set went back and forth the entire time, with the Leathernecks being down early, but seizing a lead after going on a 5-0 run, and were able to hold on to the lead for almost the rest of the set, winning the set 27-25 after going to extra points.

The fourth set was also back and forth for a majority of the set, with the Leathernecks holding leads at three different times, including a 16-14 lead, before Northern Arizona went on a 10-2 run, which put the set out of the Leathernecks' control, and ultimately ended 19-25.

The fifth and final set was also competitive, although the Leathernecks did not hold a lead, there were multiple ties throughout the set. The final for set 5 was 10-15, and the Lumberjacks were able to come out on top.

For Western Illinois, Kennedy Adair led the way with 19 kills, with Ashlee Markert and Georgia Haynes both also going into double digits kill wise. Jaleah Bauss had 40 assists in this game as well, being the only Leatherneck to surpass the 10 assist mark. Georgia Haynes led the Leathernecks with 17 digs, and Kennedy Adair was not far behind with 12 digs. Western Illinois had 13 blocks as a team, with Maria Eduarda Pereira Tonella leading the way with 4 block assists, and Hillary Estes having the team's lone solo block.

Northern Arizona were led in kills by Hannah Stoddard, with Gigi Greenlee not far behind. Ella Hosfeld led the way with 33 assists, with Lilly Holmes having the most digs for the Lumberjacks, with 23.

LINDENWOOD 3, MURRAY STATE 1
LINDENWOOD , NORTHERN ILLINOIS 
DEKALB, Ill. - The Lindenwood women's volleyball team (5-1) wrapped up a successful weekend at the NIU Invitational with wins over Murray State (1-5) and Northern Illinois (2-4) on Saturday.

The Lions began their day with a 3-1 win over Murray State. Autumn Bax and Susanna Beretti headlined the Lindenwood attack with 15 kills apiece as the Lions hit .331 as a team.

Other than a 1-0 deficit to begin the opening set, the Lions did not trail during the contest's first two frames. Lindenwood took set one by a score of 25-19 behind a team-leading five kills from Susanna Beretti before a match-high .361 team hitting percentage powered a dominant 25-15 victory in the second stanza.

The Racers responded in the third set to extend the match, holding off the Lions after they had cut the deficit to a pair after trailing by as many as six points. Beretti recorded her second five-kill set of the contest as Lindenwood again hit north of .300, but it was not enough to overcome the suddenly hot-hitting Racers, who combined for a .400 attack percentage in the frame after hitting at a clip of just .082 through the first two sets.

Lindenwood bounced back in the fourth set to close out the match, scoring nine consecutive points to break an early 8-8 tie on the way to a decisive 25-15 clincher. Autumn Bax and Blair Sitton led the Lions with four kills apiece in the frame.

Sitton finished the match with a career-high nine kills, matching Lauren Ortwerth for second most on the team behind Beretti and Bax.

Kaci Johnson handed out a season-high 49 assists in the contest for an average of 12.25 kills per set while also registering 11 digs for a double-double.

Meanwhile, Dana Grib recorded a season-high 20 digs (5.00 DPS) while Alayna Rudebeck (11 digs) and Mandy Lawson (10 digs) also reached double digits on the back row.

Lindenwood totaled 10 blocks as a team, with Ashley Geluck posting five total rejections, including a pair of solo efforts, to lead the squad.

Lindenwood concluded their weekend in DeKalb with a 3-0 sweep of Northern Illinois. The Lions finished the match with a team hitting percentage of .364, which is the program's second best in the Division-I era.

The Lions trailed by as many as three points in the opening set but were able to overcome the sluggish start with an 11-4 run to gain a four-point advantage before outlasting the Huskies for a 25-23 win. Despite recording six fewer kills than NIU in the set, Lindenwood was able to make up for much of the difference with four service aces.

Set two was all Lions from the start, with LU jumping out to a 5-0 lead and never looking back on their way to a 25-13 decision. Susanna Beretti registered eight kills in the frame to bring her match total to 11.

Lindenwood had their way in the third set, clinching the sweep with a dominant 25-11 scoreline. The Lions hit an extremely efficient .462 in the frame while limiting their opponent to a -.062 attack percentage.

Susanna Beretti finished the match with a team-leading 13 kills on a .407 hitting percentage, finishing her day with 28 kills (4.00 KPS) across the Lions' two matches.

Meanwhile, Ashley Geluck finished with 10.5 total points following a well rounded performance that featured four kills, four aces, and four blocks.

Autumn Bax matched Geluck for the team lead in blocks with four rejections while adding seven kills on a .316 hitting percentage.

Kaci Johnson recorded her second double double of the day with 32 assists and a team-high 12 digs.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 3, MERRIMACK 0
CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southeast Missouri defeated Merrimack 3-0 on Saturday, winning 25-12, 25-9, 25-16. Southeast Missouri hit .325 with 35 kills and nine aces while holding the Warriors to 19 kills and a -.026 hitting percentage.

After Elizabeth Kenney's ace brought the Warriors even at 4-4, Southeast Missouri scored the next six points to move ahead 10-4, using a kill, a service ace and four Warriors errors during the stretch. The Warriors put together back-to-back points to reach 10-6, but Southeast Missouri kept answering and pushed the lead to 15-9 before a Warriors kill made it 15-10. Consecutive Southeast Missouri kills extended the margin to 18-10, and after the Warriors sided out, Southeast Missouri ran off six straight points to reach 24-11. The Warriors took one point there, but Southeast Missouri closed the next rally to win the opening set 25-12.

After the Warriors opened the second set with a kill, Southeast Missouri scored the next seven points to move ahead 7-1, with Reagan Nelson serving three aces and kills coming from Lucy Arndt, Paige Smith and Katarina Miscevic. The Warriors got back to 10-6, but Marin Johnson put down two kills in a three-point push, and Southeast Missouri later stretched the margin to 18-7 behind a Nelson kill and three Warriors errors. After the Warriors made it 21-9, Nelson and Arndt delivered kills, Nelson added an ace, and a Warriors attack error closed Southeast Missouri's 25-9 set win.

After two Jocelyn Hammerstrand kills, a Vaia Tsioutsioulas kill and a Tsioutsioulas-Naomi Vajda block helped the Warriors move ahead 4-1, Southeast Missouri scored the next six points to take a 7-4 lead. Southeast Missouri stretched the margin to 12-5 with a four-point run that included a service ace, while the Warriors used a Maiella Blandin kill and two SEMO miscues to close to 12-8. Southeast Missouri pushed ahead 20-11 with four straight points later in the set, then traded points down the stretch until a block brought up set point at 24-16. Southeast Missouri closed the set 25-16 on a kill.

IDAHO 3, SIUE 2
DENVER - SIUE volleyball battled through a pair of tough matches to close out the Denver Invitational, falling to Marist University in five sets Friday, and dropping a four-set decision to Idaho Saturday.
 
The Cougars claimed the first and third sets against Marist to take a 2-1 lead, but the Red Foxes responded by taking the fourth set and rallying from behind in the fifth to secure the win. SIUE held the statistical advantage in several categories, recording more points, aces, blocks, assists and digs, but it was SIUE's 30 errors compared to Marist's 19 that proved difficult to overcome.
 
Kennedy Pike led the Cougars against Marist with a career-high 15 kills, while freshman Georgia Bresnahan recorded SIUE's first double-double of the season with 12 kills and 13 digs.
 
SIUE returned to the court Saturday against Idaho, claiming another opening set 25-20, before the Vandals would go on to win the next three sets to close out the match and tournament.
 
Bresnahan again led the way for SIUE, recording a career-high 14 kills and 13 digs for her second consecutive double-double. Paige Bernstein added 24 assists, while Anika Ivester recorded a team-high two blocks in the match. As a team, the Cougars finished with 51 kills, 48 assists, 54 digs, three service aces and three blocks.

WYOMING 3, EASTERN ILLINOIS 1
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Eastern Illinois was unable to capture a win on their Utah road trip, falling 3-1 against Wyoming. EIU falls to 1-5 (0-0 OVC), while the Cowgirls improve to 3-1 (0-0 Mountain West).  

The Panthers' offense was a thorn in their side in the weekend finale, finishing with a .133 hitting percentage, including a 0% in set one. Wyoming jumped out of the gate, earning a 25-15 set one victory. Although EIU out-killed Wyoming, the Panthers' 11 early errors proved too costly to overcome. 

Trailing 1-0, EIU dominated the second set, using a 5-0 scoring run moments before the media timeout to take an early 13-9 lead. Holding a 15-11 advantage after the break, the Panthers kept their foot on the gas, driving two separate 3-0 scoring runs, controlling the set with a 21-13 lead. Eastern Illinois closed the set with a 25-15 win, led by a .294 hitting percentage with a match set-high 15 kills.  

Eastern Illinois battled Wyoming tightly for the next two sets but was never able to hold a lead, falling to the Cowgirls in four sets.   

Statistically, EIU finished with more kills (49-48) and digs (64-53) than the Cowgirls, but Wyoming's 12 blocks kept the Panthers in check through three out of the four sets. Ruby Jensens denied the Panthers 10 times, followed by Reagan Sharp totaling six.   

The Panthers had several bright spots in the stat sheet, led by Alanys Nieves, who recorded a match-high 40 assists in her first start of the season. Freshman Kaeden Foxx paced the Panthers with 15 kills, while Katie Kopshever added 14. Defensively, Ariadna Pereles led all players with a match-high 26 digs.

XAVIER 3, SOUTHERN INDIANA 1
ATLANTA - University of Southern Indiana Volleyball dropped the final match at the Georgia Tech Classic to Xavier University in a four-set battle on Saturday afternoon. The Screaming Eagles move to 2-4 for the 2026 season after the first weekend on the road. 
 
Xavier University earns its third win of the season (3-2), after a successful 2025 season where the team earned an at-large bid into the 2025 NCAA Tournament as an eight seed. 
 
The Screaming Eagles started strong against the Musketeers, going point for point until Xavier pushed ahead in the final six points. Sophomore Carley Wright fed off the success from her career-high last night by leading the team with three kills and six digs. Setter Aysa Thomas added two kills of her own, taking on her sister, Xavier senior Quinci Thomas, for the first time in their college careers.
 
USI built on the first set performance, falling short in the final few points to take the frame. Senior Ashby Willis added 10 kills to lead the USI offense, marking her fifth double-digit game of the season after just two sets. Wright dropped two aces from the service line and led the team with eight digs. Sophomore Grace Bach tallied the first solo block of her career. Thomas had her best set of the day, with 11 assists, and led the team with six digs, and snuck two more kills over the net. 
 
The Screaming Eagles came out strong in the third set, starting with a five-point scoring run. Willis landed another four kills to lead the court in the set, and with just one error, she hit a .429 hitting percentage. Thomas kept the USI back row alive with four digs, helping to keep the Xavier offense at a match-low team hitting percentage. Willis put up two blocks to help shut down the Musketeer offense too. Fifth-year Aspen Jankowski came of the bench as one of four USI players to end the set with an ace. 
 
Libero Audrey Small had her best set of the match, picking up six digs. Willis landed another three kills, but the USI offense struggled to find the floor as the Xavier defense tallied its most digs of the game (20). 

For the game, Thomas finished with a double-double with 28 assists and 14 digs, and met her season-high with five kills. Willis led the court with 18 kills, her fifth match so far this season with double-digit kills.

TENNESSEE TECH 3, TENNESSEE STATE 0
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Wiktoria Jakubik turned in an efficient offensive performance as Tennessee State volleyball closed the Golden Eagle Invitational with a 3-0 loss to host Tennessee Tech on Saturday afternoon at the Eblen Center.

The Golden Eagles took the match 25-20, 25-12, 25-15. Tennessee State moved to 0-6 on the season.

Jakubik led the Tigers offensively with eight kills on 12 attempts without an attack error, finishing with a .667 hitting percentage. She also added a block assist and a dig.

The performance capped a strong weekend for Jakubik, who was named to the Golden Eagle Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Gabrielle Washington continued her efficient play in the middle, recording four kills on seven attempts without an error for a .571 hitting percentage. Washington also added three block assists. Sydney Robinson finished with four kills, three block assists and the Tigers' lone service ace.

Triniti Jackson finished with 12 assists and six digs, while Italya Carter led TSU with eight digs. Jordan Imperial added six digs.

Tennessee State stayed with Tennessee Tech throughout the opening set, which featured seven ties and five lead changes.

Back-to-back points gave the Tigers an early 5-3 advantage, with Robinson recording a kill during the stretch. After Tennessee Tech moved ahead 13-10, TSU answered with three straight points. Jakubik started the run with a kill before Washington and Robinson teamed up for consecutive blocks to even the score at 13.

The Tigers later trailed 18-15 before scoring twice to pull within 18-17 on a Tennessee Tech service error and a Melae Lacy kill, forcing the Golden Eagles to call timeout. TSU made another push late, scoring consecutive points on a Tech attack error and a Jakubik kill to make it 24-20 before the Golden Eagles took the set.

TSU recorded 11 kills and hit .192 in the opening frame, its best offensive set of the match.

Washington opened the second set with a kill, and a Tennessee Tech attack error gave TSU an early 2-0 advantage. The teams were tied at 3 before the Golden Eagles scored five straight to move ahead 8-3. Jakubik ended the run with a kill.

Washington added another kill later in the frame, and Blevins and Robinson combined for a block to bring the Tigers within 13-10. Tennessee Tech responded down the stretch to take the second set, 25-12.

Washington again gave the Tigers the first point, recording a kill to open the third set. Jakubik followed with a kill to tie the score at 2, and TSU remained within two at 7-5 after Moore and Blevins combined for a block.

After Tennessee Tech extended its advantage, TSU worked back within two at 13-11. Robinson started the push with a kill before Jakubik and Blevins combined for a block. Blevins later added a kill to make it 14-12.

The Tigers made another push after falling behind 18-12, scoring consecutive points on a Tennessee Tech attack error and Robinson service ace to cut the deficit to 18-14. The Golden Eagles answered with five straight points and went on to close the set, 25-15.

Tennessee State finished the match with 21 kills, 20 assists and 28 digs. The Tigers also recorded 12 block assists, with Washington, Robinson and Blevins each contributing three.

NORTH ALABAMA 3, UT MARTIN 0
FLORENCE, Ala. - Sophie Diouf topped the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball squad in kills for the third straight match but the Skyhawks fell in three sets (15-25, 11-25, 12-25) at undefeated North Alabama this afternoon.

Following the match, Diouf was named to the Noona Kennard Invitational All-Tournament team. The 6-0 transfer out of Southern posted 34 kills (3.78 per set) on a .231 hitting percentage with 10 digs and three blocks over nine sets in the three-match event.

Diouf managed 10 kills today on a .280 attack percentage, committing just three attack errors in 25 swings. Chyler Martin (eight kills), Addie Rosales (nine assists) and Reagan Hamm (eight assists) additionally led UT Martin offensively. Lauren Mariscal's nine digs topped the Skyhawks defensively today.

Chyler Martin got going early, accounting for three kills on three consecutive UT Martin points during the first set. A Mia Saenz kill kept the Skyhawks within striking distance at 16-12 but the Lions ended the set with nine of the final 12 points. Diouf (.429 hitting percentage) and Martin (.286) each had three kills apiece in the opening set.

Diouf and Martin each had two kills apiece in UT Martin's first six points as the Skyhawks jumped out to an early lead. A 9-0 North Alabama run followed before a Martin kill got UT Martin back on track. Carly Mueller and Hamm each tacked on kills but the Lions were able to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Martin's three kills were a team-high for the Skyhawks in the middle stanza.

UT Martin's first three points in the third set came off Diouf kills. Three separate Skyhawks (Hamm block assist, Rylee Key block assist, Diouf kill) contributed during a stretch of three unanswered UT Martin points to give the Skyhawks some momentum before North Alabama wrapped up the match.
